    I don't see the Astros lowering payroll this year. I was at Rocket's dinner last Monday and everyone got the itching he's coming back. Even Lance Armstrong thinks so. Pettitte will be back as well. According to Richard Justice, Carlos Lee is a done deal. They just have to wait for the signing period to begin. According to the Houston Chronicle, the Astros are also interested in Gary Matthews Jr., Kip Wells(who i don't like btw) and Soriano and Aramis Ramirez.

    Since when did Bagwell end up somewhere else? :confused:

    Maybe you're thinking of Olajuwon?

    you hope? he's 52 years old; i'd say there's a better than 100% chance of biggio retiring an astro... unlike, apparently, bagwell - did i black out? where else has he played?

    mlbtraderumors.com = hoops world

    In otherwords, they're both completely useless. I'm not saying Biggio isn't re-signing. Just don't use mlbtraderumors as a source.

    I was also hearing the Astros were interested in Ramirez . That would be nice . Carlos Lee and Ramirez would definitely add some much needed spark to this line-up .

    I doubt they resign Huff also, but come on. Allyson Footer is about as worthless a team sponsored writer as they come. 99 percent of her writing is just her own simple, poorly written guesses on what's going to happen. She has no inside track on information.

    On 610 AM they were talking at length how Biggio and his agent asked for 6 mil and they were gonna negotiate down from there and hoped to get it done before declaring for free agency. About Huff they said there's a likelihood of him not being signed back. Nothing was a confirmed done deal.
    Anything with "rumors" and "trade" ESPECIALLY in its title, gotta not take too seriously at all.

    6 million for biggio? is he out of his mind? he certainly doesn't deserve a raise after last season.

    Yeah, but he knows he has the Astros by the nuts.

    Would you rather have Biggio get 3,000 or a World Series appearance?

    His agent says he isn't ready to announce his retirement yet and he may go to the AL and DH...

    There is a very, very, very slight chance of that happening.

    Don't really care about the 3,000 hits, hell Boggs was long gone from being a Red Sox and everyone will remember him as "hall of fame third baseman from the Boston Red Sox, lifetime 300+ hitter and 3,000 hits) Not a devil ray.

    Lee will be nice for a year or two and then he will get fatter and fatter and end up being a huge bust who under-performs his contract.

    Supan, don't even get me started on him and Gary Mattews Jr might be the worst of them all. Folks I hope I am wrong but I see this being a bad bad offseason.

    The Astros will hold a press conference Friday to announce a one-year contract agreement with second baseman Craig Biggio slightly more than $5 million, according to people close to the negotiations.

    What exactly do you disagree with me on in this thread? Or did you just come in here to make an ass out of yourself?
