The biggest mistake is all mighty Morey rejected Billups + Prince with T-Mac deal!! Think about it, with Billups in our rotation, what the team would look like?

Has to be the biggest mistake if that is true as has been reported.

i reported the deal from my cousin in Detroit's office, and, first of all, Billups was not in the deal and neither was Prince. it was Rip & Sheed for Tracy. do a quick search on the BBS, and you'll find the thread. second of all, my cousin told me that that is what Detroit was talking about - he told me that they never made the offer to Houston b/c by the time the Iverson deal started looking bad for them, Tracy had already started his melodramatic act.

by far, Houston's biggest mistake over the past 5 years can be dated back to October 26, 2007, a date that will live on in infamy. i'll let you guys figure it out.

You are talking about during the season because that is when the Iverson trade went down. But there were trade rumors during the summer time a couple of months before the season, which stated that they all were being shopped, because Joe D. was looking to shake things up. So I do believe that it could have been any two of them offered for TMac.

What't the point of siging Fisher if you have Brandon Roy?

I don't think i can hold myself to just the past 5 years...

    1. Not drafting Rashard Lewis with the 1st round pick
    2. Drafting Luther Head instead of David Lee
    3. Not making a move to secure that we get B. Roy
    4. Trading Richard Jefferson and another 1st rounder for Eddie G.
    5. Trading the 8th pick for only Shane Battier
    6. Not getting rid of Tracy when we got a chance
    7. Not keeping the rooks and going after old, washed up, non athletic free agents.

There are probably more I missed but that's what I got off top.

I see where you're coming from. My only real beef with this is that I'm sure we could have gotten at least another conditional 1st rounder or so. Maybe even a young role player. IDK

Just not enough in return, in my eyes, for the #8 overall pick.

it's not. shane hasn't done much to elevate our team. our defense was great before he came. it remains great with him. so what did he change? JVG was going to make our defense great regardless of who was there. he's a defensive genius.

he's not worth a lottery pick.

    1) Trading Dream
    2) Firing Calvin
    3) Rudy Situation
    4) Firing JVG + Allowing Patrick Ewing to go coach Dwight Howard
    5) Trading for T-Mac
    6) Building that 'Corporate' Club Section at Toyota Center

#1, dream was not traded, per se. as far as i can remember, that was a mutual agreement.

#2, agreed. i want calvin back. even though on the court that decision probably didn't do anything.

#3, agreed. the way les let rudy go was a disgrace.

#4, agreed. jvg deserved another year.

#5, disagree. the trade was a no-brainer at the time.

#6, didn't think about it, but good point nonetheless.

This two are the cause and effect. I definitely agree that the owner made the biggest mistake.

    1. Jim Jackson for undersized David Wesley.

Jim Jackson was a perfect 3rd or 4th option, while his defense was pretty d@mn good. Also, he could've been the glue guy that Houston needed.

He was much more versatile, better defender, better numbers across the board, and scorer than David Wesley.

I did not see the point of that trade.

    2. Never drafting a legitimate point guard or great young solid players, during the 03-06 years... Poor Drafting and development of decent young players

    Point Guards via draft
    --------------------------------
Mo Williams - 03 (47), Rockets drafted Malick Badiane
Ramon Sessions - 07 (56), Rockets drafted Brad Newley (at 54), a forward.

But didn't we need a point guard...at that period in time. In fact, Sessions (even as low 2nd rounder) had alot of potential coming out of college.
    http://www.nbadraft.net/players/ramon-sessions/

Other young players, specifically Pfs and wing scorers.
    -----------------------------
    Kyle Korver - 03 (51)

Jason Maxiell - 05 (26), Rockets drafted Luther Head (another undersized SG)
    Linas Kleiza - 05 (27)
    David Lee - 05 (30)
    Brandon Bass - 05 (33)
    C.J. Miles - 05 (34)
    Von Wafer - 05 (39)
    Monta Ellis - 05 (40)

Leon Power - 06 (47) Rockets drafted Steve Novak (I liked Novak, but he probably doesn't provide as much these two players, especially since they are capable starters at power forward)
    Paul Milsap - 06 (49)

I didn't include the RG trade for Battier, because I suspect both teams have somewhat equally benefitted from the trade in their own ways. RG is a great wing scorer and offensive player vs. an all-world defender, glue guy, and leadership on the floor type player.

I mean we are going after players who could've drafted in first place, very cheapily...why go after chop liver players when the player above showed more promise from college in the first place.

    3. Terrible Offense....no explanations needed.

And people wonder why we can get past the first round. We didn't have the role players to beat the Lakers, Mavs, or Jazz.

Im glad Morey has come to Houston. I suspect, if he arrived earlier we would've had some of these players.

JVG and loosing the point Guard who went to Portland. If we had him he would have made this team complete. :p

It has to be that meaningless win for the rockets, which costs us to get Roy, but it is nobody's fault, I guess.

Some of you are doing major 20/20 hindsight observations and some don't know the real facts of why things happened.

There are lost of teams that wished they drafted Mo Williams and Ramon Sessions, they were the 47th and 56th pick overall in their respective drafts.

Tom Thibodeau was asked to be back by Adelman but he declined. Good decision by him cause he got a ring.
