As long as he does not crash out like Zion and does not eat himself to death or succumb to injuries like Grant Hill and Yao......I see your point. I think there were many late bloomers in that draft.... I think what we did wrong was not addressing our weaknesses, Frontcourt play, Forward size....... You would need size regardless of how many guards you can get your hands onto. It just happened that Green was not NBA ready and that Anthony Edwards was way ahead of him. Kobe was way more articulate than him, he barely speaks full sentences and skipped college. It is pretty hard for him to build a great image.
As long as we are building towards a championship, I can wait. Didn't expect much from Green anyway so him just being a role player isn't the worst thing in the world. This next draft is where the star will come from. My real fear is a shift in that overall goal. If we wanted to make the play-in/offs next year we could easily do that. Trade Green, Sengun and the next pick for Beal, overpay some Norman Powell types, maybe even take Westbrook and we're probably there. But those Indiana type teams are never winning a championship. They live in mediocrity and they like it. That's my worst fear.
That we miss on our 22/23 picks . and that we try to devote another year to intentionally losing to get another chance at a top 4
