Wait, what? Did some of you watch a different Florida team than I did? The Florida team that I watched won with a stifling defense that held the nation's best offense to 14 points, and would've won going away had Tebow not held them back with a couple of awful throws that were intercepted. The Florida team that I watched in 2006 won a title with a stifling defense and solid play from Chris Leak at QB. Tebow is a good quarterback, but he's reaching Reggie Bush status in terms of how ESPN is single-handedly raising him from very good to great. Vince Young was a truly dominant college football player in his final season — one of the finest to ever play. It's VY, and it's not even close.
All I can say is that Texas v USC game was the best MFing College game I ever seen in my whole MFing life! Everyone in that game was a legend Vince! Rocket River
vince also was the only player o pass for over 3K and rush for over 1K ever. he led the nation in passing efficiency before the rose bowl. tebow probably has him on career, but that was one of the greatest individual college season ever, capped off by arguably the greatest individual performance in a game with a national title implications, against one of the most hyped teams in history.
Uh, insult? What? Dude, loosen up the underwear. You take any put down of UT like a personal insult... People in here are wearing some burnt orange sunglasses, you want to say that's false? ooooooooo...kay!
I respect Vince's LAST performance in college more than Mr. Tebow's, but it's unfair to say that his ENTIRE career was better than Tebow's. I only picked Vince Young because I saw only a few games where he played, including that bowl win against Michigan, and a few less of Tebow's. LOL! Follow instructions, Loco. "who is the 'bigger' legend?" is the question asked, so pick ONE. Who's the bigger legend? Me or a Taco? Don't answer that.
lastly, vince probably wasn't getting the recognition tebow gets because vince had another player who was arguably the most hyped college player in the last twenty years getting all the attention until that national championship game.
In a national championship game the answer is Young. Looking at both of their careers it's pretty close, but VY was certainly a more exciting player overall.
That 05 Longhorn team would've cleaned out Florida. VY Jamaal Charles/Selvin Young Aaron Ross Michael Griffin Michael Huff The defense was insane, the OL was great and they had Vince Young..who was practically unstoppable.
I'm a UT fan and Austin resident. Vince Young is a god in Austin. A national title and an undefeated season is impressive. That said, Tim Tebow has now been a significant part of 2 national title teams in 3 years, won a Heisman (first sophomore to do so), and finished 3rd in the voting the next year. I'd have to say that nationally, Tebow is going to be the bigger legend. Vince's pro career isn't helping him any, either.
LOL. No it certainly isn't. In 3 years, nobody outside of Austin will have a clue who Vince Young is. And this will most definitely be the last "VY is God" thread on here. It's moved past embarassing.
