George W. Bush is the Republican's two term version of Jimmy Carter, and we all know what happened in 1980.

The pendulum is swinging in the other direction, fast.

What's sad is that Republicans don't just control, but dominate all three branches of government AND the most watched media network.

And here they are acting like they are rallying and protecting the middle class from democrats. Our country has full party control and we haven't progressed, we've regressed, and American's dislike them. Now how can you be in full control and still lose? that's what I don't understand. Absolute power has corrupted, absolutely, and its taken 6 years for 70% of Americans to see this.

    The deficit is shrinking.
    http://www.cbo.gov/ftpdocs/71xx/doc7184/05-2006-MBR.pdf

"In the first seven months of fiscal year 2006, the federal government ran a deficit of $183 billion, CBO estimates, $53 billion less than for the same period last year."

I guess you missed the thread a couple of days ago that showed tax receipts rising and the deficit shrinking. I'm not surprised. The liberals avoided it like the plague because they were demoralized by the good news coming from our country. Too much for them to handle, so they ran away like cowards.

 Tax receipts are up after several years of economic growth that started before the tax cuts. Tax receipts went down substantially during the cut period, and it took them several years to get back to where they were before the cuts.

Had it not been for the tax cuts, based on the trends of the past 80 years, tax receipts would likely be much higher than they are now, and the deficit likely much smaller, as it was in the past.

In 80 years, tax receipts have only dropped 6 times - 3 times under Bush, and otherwise not since 1983. The fact that you use the idea that tax receipts are rising as a wonderful positive for Bush, given that it's happened in 74 of the past 80 years - tells us the ridiculously low standard you now have for his economic policies.

Pure speculation on your part. linky?

Friend, when you face one of the worst attacks on American soil during your tenure, in addition to the post-internet bubble burst that Clinton left him, one must spur economic development. Bush did it through tax cuts. The economy roared back. Your data (which leftie blog did you pull that from, btw? I notice you repeat it often, wrongly thinking that it proves something...) does not account for the fact that Bush had to stimulate the economy after 9/11 and the bubble burst. How can you be so sure the economy would have rebounded without the cuts? You can't.

    Please

Seems you're on your own with the spin that this protects the middle class. Care to point out in the article where the AP is espousing that this is a good thing?

The PWN3RSHIP STEAMROLLER HAS CLAIMED A REPEAT VICTIM!! mc mark

    http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/3851611.html

WASHINGTON — Republicans in Congress reached agreement today on a $70 billion measure to extend tax breaks for investors and prevent more middle-income families from being hit by a tax aimed at the wealthy.

So one half of the all the dips in tax receipts in the last 23 years came under Bush's administration. That is telling indeed.

It is loyal of you to make excuses though.

bigtexxx, you're going to have to establish your economical genius before people are going to be willingly blinded by your biased science.

And again, no matter how many numbers you crunch, if most people don't see a marked improvement in their own lives, then most people aren't going to care. And even if they do see an improvement, I'd doubt many of them are going to connect that directly to some beneficient (heh) action of the Bushies.

They were teed up by Clinton's scorched earth that he left (post-internet bubble) and a national tragedy (9/11). Yeah, blame that on Bush.
