umm, yea i had to go through that crap on 45 north bound. I can't believe they were cops that PARKED THEIR CAR, 2 of them, on the far left lane, hopped OVER the to the southbound side to view the scene. I would have accepted people slowing down just to look but thats a bunch of crap. To make things worst, while going northbound towards to work (Greenspoint), I saw AT LEAST 10 cop cars with their sirens rolling and try to get to the scene while there are about 15 cars at the scene ALREADY!!!!

    Dear god thats ridicolous.

and I was 20 mins late for work. :(

but good to hear that the mother and daughter are ok and surprisingly Mark & Rich didn't do any play by play with this chase scene its it was plastered all over the networks.

I just didn't like it when they told her to get to Houston now. Hell, you just did the best interview of the most sensational story of the year...offer her a ride Bill!

According to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department, the chase started in Shenandoah at 2:29pm when officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The Montgomery County Sheriff's Department first received a call at 2:27pm stating that someone in a white Dodge Neon had shot at a car. That caller gave dispatchers the license plate of the car, which is how they knew it was connected to an Amber Alert.

Mom & daughter are at Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital, both in serious condition. Vicky Allen, the mother and grandmother of the victims, is currently en route to the hospital from the Dallas area. As stated previously, the suspect is swiss cheese. His only prior convictions were a couple of mar1juana possession charges and driving without a license, all in Dallas County.

At last check, all southbound lanes of I-45 and the I-45 feeder just north and south of Crosstimbers were closed, because it is still an active crime scene.

This is the third major chase in Houston this year. The first one ended in a head-on collision when the suspect drove the wrong way on a freeway on ramp on January 18. The second one, in southwest Houston on January 26, resulted in the death of a 12-year-old boy.

This seems to have been in connection to the Amber alert up here in Dallas... fits the description of the car and the kidnapped...

Missing since last night at 6 PM. The thing is... this didn't pop-up on the radio as an alert until about 4 PM today... this chase was already under way right?

    google news

At least the suspect got it.

Dude was already dead by 4:00. The chase started around 2:45.

    Dallas' Amber Alert sucks.

The missing persons report was filed this morning by Andrea's mother. DeSoto Police actually issued the Amber Alert at 12:56pm today. The chase started in Shenandoah at about 2:29pm.

Ok, the more I watch this chase, the more I see glaring problems.

First, the "victim". This woman, not only was driving like a bat out of hell, (which she didn't have to do. She could've just driven normally, esp. with her 4 year old in the back seat), But she ALSO was trying to bail out of the moving car, which basically means she was willing to give up her child to save her own ass. She needs to go straight from the hospital to jail.

Secondly, the police immediately opened fire on a vehicle they knew had a 4 year old in it. Every policeman from all three precincts who are found to have shot their gun need to be fired and jailed, also.

It is time to rid ourselves of people like this.

    Fatty,

I don't know how you can type 99% of the things you do with a straight face.

You're kidding right? You don't know what was going on in that car, Dude had a shotgun and was obviously ready to use it. I actually think that he was trying to kick her out of the car.

Still kidding? This guy opened fire on the cops. What were they supposed to do take a few in the face? There is a thing called firearms training where cops learn to aim and shoot. Although I'm sure they would rather have not had the baby in the car, it didn't seem like they had much of a choice.

The guy was in the back seat with the rifle clearly aimed through the rear window. She was saving herself. Watch the tape again. I've watched it several times.

I'll back off this a bit, but it seems police have been quite gun happy, recently. With a 4 yr. old knowingly in the back seat, I think a cautionary approach is necessary. Their was no caution involved in this.

Law enforcement officials are trained professionals :D . Shoo, I've only been to the range a few times and after my last visit (3rd time) I was shooting HEAD SHOTS from 50 feet accurately and consistantly with my pistol.

Im not sure exactly what the details are, but I rather have the cops try to shoot/kill the suspect and risk hitting me rather than the suspect use me as a meat shield/hostage or get butchered by him.

Was the target firing shots back at you at the same time?

Uhhhhh, you obviously haven't seen the Neon afterwards, did you? The car had bullet holes ALL over it. Like Swiss cheese. It's a miracle the baby has survived. "Sharpshooter" is the last word I would use. Literally DOZENS of bad shots hit the car. It was handled piss-poorly, once again.

Channel 2 just said both mom and daughter were release from the hospital, if I heard it correctly.

I've watched the video from it several times and I've made some assumptions, may be wrong though. First, I'm pretty sure the little girl would have been on the floor in the backseat. The suspect was moving around and shooting out of the back windshield before the mom crashed the car so I doubt the girl would have been sitting there calmly. This probably means she's lying down in the back during the shooting which means the officers didnt see her or were aiming high. Second, I saw about 7 bullets that went through the windshield when the cops fired on the suspect. Assuming a few were direct hits and a few missed, there was probably about 15 shots fired. While the angle was bad (a bullet ended up in a gas station half a mile away), I don't see how the officers had much choice. Are they supposed to shoot 2 times and then walk up to make sure the guy who has been firing at them previously is dead?
