Please provide some proof that Trump during his 4 years ACTUALLY lowered the price of insulin significantly. There have been numerous stories about people going to Mexico and Canada where the price is about one tenth of what it is here.

Fox is dangerous for the ill informed as studies have shown it makes them even less informed.

It went down a ton, that's not even in dispute. Average out of pocket reduced from approx. $60 per vial to approx. $17 per vial. That's a tremendous reduction.

Trump's move would lower the price. Also he made it to where more ppl could afford it by building a great economy. The likes of which Joe is incapable of leading us to.

This isn't a surprise or new. The intended regulation here causes more harm than good. The bigger issue is that 340B itself might be going away, a problem that both Dem and Rep has asked the Trump admin to step in, but they did not. The Biden admin will now have to review all of this and take smarter actions.

HRSA Releases 340B Insulin Final Rule Over Health Centers’ Strong Objections - 340B Report (substack.com)

“We remain troubled by the Administration’s continued insistence on a rule that will make it harder for health centers to provide life-saving and affordable medications and services for patients in the midst of a pandemic,” National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) Vice President, Media Relations Amy Simmons Farber said.

“Even members of Congress recognize that this rule will do more harm than good at a time when too many people are suffering,” Simmons Farber continued. “Health centers have a long history of utilizing the 340B program to deliver low-cost medications to America’s most vulnerable, as Congress intended—and we remain committed to ensuring that all patients receive the medication prescribed to them, regardless of their ability to pay. Our hope is that policymakers will recognize that a pandemic is no time to destabilize the safety net. Certainly, the high cost of prescriptions remains a national crisis—but health centers are the solution—not the problem.”

In September, 104 U.S. House Democrats asked U.S. Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Alex Azar to rescind or not implement Trump’s executive order.

“The rule implementing the Executive Order adds bureaucracy and burden to the existing Health Center mandate to ensure that all patients can access health care and medication regardless of ability to pay,” said attorney Jason Reddish, Partner at Feldesman Tucker, whose clients include NACHC, state primary care associations, and individual health centers. “We would have much preferred to see the White House and HHS address a real and ongoing danger to patients’ ability to access affordable medication—drug manufacturers that are illegally refusing to ship 340B program drugs to community pharmacies contracted with safety net providers to dispense the discounted drugs to health center patients.”

And here is the big issue with the 340B program itself. If the program go away, the regulation does nothing.

A program meant to ease the cost of prescription drugs for hospital patients could soon be a thing of the past.

340B is a federal drug pricing program created to give hospitals across the country, and even some here in the state, the chance to provide free to low-cost medications to patients in need, but over the last few months the program has fallen into controversy as six of the major drug manufacturers no longer want to discount the medications.

KX News spoke to the Director of Pharmacy at CHI St. Alexius Health in Williston, who says if the program were to go away, it would hurt everyone involved.

“These discounts add up to a huge impact that CHI St. Alexius Health-Williston use. $2.7 million in annual savings that is reinvested in our programs particularly obstetrics, oncology and emergency services,” Dave Sandberg said.

He says he hasn’t heard any reasonings as to why manufacturers don’t want to abide by the program anymore but a lawsuit has since been filed against them.

Both Dem and Rep has asked the Trump admin to halt drug makers new demands that could kill 340B.

Twenty eight U.S. senators—15 Democrats, 12 Republicans, and an independent—wrote to U.S. Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Alex Azar today to urge the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) “to take immediate and appropriate enforcement action” to halt “recent actions from pharmaceutical manufacturers that threaten to undermine the role of contract pharmacies in the 340B drug pricing program.”

Senate Majority Whip John Thune (R-S.D.), the Senate’s second-highest ranking Republican, and five other senators—Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.), Rob Portman (R-Ohio), Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.), Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.V.), and Ben Cardin (D-Md.)—led the effort. In July, the same six senators jointly sponsored bipartisan legislation to protect hospitals from losing 340B eligibility during the COVID-19 pandemic due to changes in patient mix.

Conservative Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) wrote separately to Azar on Sept. 15 asking him to direct HRSA to “notify these companies that their actions are counter to the guidance governing the program and they must cease and reverse these policies.”

The two new Senate letters follow Tuesday's letter from 22 Democratic senators to Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) saying manufacturers’ refusals to provide 340B pricing for use in contract pharmacies likely violates the law, and that manufacturers’ moves to make covered entities give them contract pharmacy claims data or else lose 340B pricing for those pharmacies are not tied to 340B compliance obligations. The senators asked PhRMA to tell them by Sept. 29 what the drug industry is doing to cease these actions.

A number of lawmakers have privately reached out to the administration to express concern about these drug industry moves or to demand action, 340B Report has learned.

On Monday, 243 U.S. House members—174 Democrats and 69 Republicans—wrote to Azar demanding “immediate action to stop [drug] companies from either denying or limiting access to 340B pricing to hospitals, health centers, and clinics participating in 340B.”

Has the Trump's executive order reduced the price of insulin? and has the price of insulin increased since Biden was sworn in?

It feels like you see yourself as a Trump freedom fighter, firing off one anti Biden thread after another, to even the score for your vanquished leader who was soooo unfairly attacked for four years. Go for it. It is entertaining.

You ain't shot ish as a source. Good Lord. I'm diabetic. Type 1. I buy a lot of insulin. Wal-Mart lowered its price during Obama's term but insulin is this same price other places since I started using it in 2007

You need to stop talking **** cause you just got called out and could not back up your made up claim.

Its not about speaking for yourself, its about you making a baseless claim. I don't claim to know everything about insulin or its market but as far as your claim, why would insulin prices have come down under Trump? The executive order doesn't affect prices, it was targeted at helping poor people pay for insulin by hy supplementing providers.

What has Trump done for overall prices?
