Hello!! I don't have much time to write but I wanted to let y'all know I made it to Africa and I'm doing fine. My fiance and I are settling in okay. Just wanted to drop a line.
wow, it feels like ages since i've been to this site. i was just catching up on the rockets, nba and ear wax threads. my fiance and i were home in july for a few wks but we're back in nigeria now. no sign of hakeem here as i'm not near Lagos. but i see (from this website of course) he's in houston now. hope everyone is doing well-safe, healthy-i haven't been reading so i don't know about any engagements, new Rockets babies, job changes, etc. all i know is the basketball season is starting soon and it's really gonna hit that i'm all the way over here. not to mention college football season starting this w/e. we have a couple OU sooners here so it should be interesting trash talking with them. when i'm home next in march, i will watch a few rockets games but that's about it. also, our wedding date will be after our tour here, in oct 2007. i'm SLOWLY planning it now. i have been able to watch lots FIBA games in the last wk or so. saw the US vs Germany game today. i think its great that the US is trying to win these international games again. it was getting ugly and sloppy there for a few years. ok...i don't do dial up anymore so the connection is much faster. hopefully i'll be online more often and can check in, esp when the season starts. later, ruby
Are Nigerian people nice? The many Nigerians I've encountered here and abroad have not been very friendly to me.
yeah, the ppl are extremely nice here. there are lotsa locals that work in the camp and with us at work. they all ask me where i'm from b/c i look asian but i speak english perfectly. i forget that when i go abroad, it confuses ppl. so i find myself explaining alot that my parents were born in china, raise in taiwan and my brother, sister and i were born in houston. then they say "ohhhh." they are nice though, def.

Please tell your new friends that I've caught onto their emails and I think they might be trying to scam me. I'm not a detective, but my brain is rather large. Please advise them to STEP OFF!
Congratulations! And as much as I love Rockets basketball...I'd gladly trade a year of it for someone I could spend the rest of my life with. You're not getting a bad deal at all.
Awesome...Glad to hear you're doing fine...I have never been abroad on assignment, but could see myself doing something like that... I'm assuming you just stick around camp and don't venture out much...Have fun and enjoy yourself...
