I went to the movies with my younger sister on Sat. She wanted to watch Cheaper by the Dozen 2. I desprately tried to find a movie that started around the same time, but no luck. Anyways, it was horrible. When we came out though, I was shocked to see such a big crowd outside buying tickets since it's been a slow go around for movies lately unless a spectacle movie comes out. Sure enough, most of them were there for BMH2.
It's not that people necessarily degrade other people for liking bad movies (hell, I thought Night at the Roxbury was a good movie), it's just that when people spend money to see bad movies, it leads to more bad movies being made. crap begats crap...
overquoted maybe, overrated no. office space is one of the few comedies that actually makes me cry from laughing. a random gripe, but the big lebowski was one of the ****tiest comedies of all time. i rent it, expecting some comedy that'll have me gasping for air from laughing so hard and yet I end up being pissed off and feeling like it was a complete waste of time at the end. how is any of it even remotely funny?
I think BMH2 will be a funny and entertaining. Take it for what it is. A silly comedy. Martin is funny and is a good actor.
That movie was one of the most boring, drawn out films I've ever had the dispeasure of seeing. The fact that it was supposed to be a comedy but was rather depressing and starred Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence (who has his rare moments I'll admit) to boot is quite perplexing.
Distinguished Gentleman with EDDIE MURPHY. Definitely a yawner. In contrast, Boomerang was the shiznits and Coming to America was THE movie.
I had very high hopes for Life, but came away disappointed. To me it seemed like a movie Murphy threw together just to hang with a bunch of his friends. I think both Murphy and Lawrence are best when they are playing other characters. That's why I'm a little disappointed to hear BMH2 is not all that.
AGREED. ONLY YOU can prevent "The Whole Ten Yards," "Miss Congeniality 2," "Big Momma's House 2," "Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo," and "Son of the Mask" from ever being made. Stop paying money to see this crap, and the problem will resolve itself. If you choose to ignore my dire warnings, the cycle will continue with "The Whole Enchilada," "Miss Congeniality 3: Electric Boogaloo," "Big Papa's House," "Deuce Bigalow: Space Gigolo," and "Cousin's Girlfriend's Mother's Personal Trainer of the Mask." YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. IGNORE AT YOUR OWN PERIL.
Yes. Great examples of movies to avoid so they will not continue to produce crap. I'm happy to say that I have not seen any of those, but sometimes a movie looks so bad it must be seen. I'm anxiously awaiting for Snakes on a Plane to come out. http://home.comcast.net/~dfosket/snakes_800x600.jpg
Ill give everyone a hint. I would have to assume the same people that go out and see most of these movies are the same ones that will listen to britney spears, 50 cent, and creed. and have probably hardly ever read a book in there lives. there are a lot of people that are happy with a cookie cutter, non contraversial, boring, rehashed product. they will take it gobble it down and think nothing of it. it takes more effort then a lot of people are willing to give; to seek out something diffrent, something that will make you think a little bit. thats how it is and it will be a long time until it will ever change. and by the way i like martin lawrence quite a lot. used to love the show martin. own the movie blue streak. and think that part where he takes a hit of X in bad boys II freaking hilarious. but there would be no way i could even get paid to go see big mommas house II. just looks stupid. AND yes rottentomatoes is a very good barometer for what a good movie will be, but of course there will always be exceptions under many diffrent circumstances why some movies will appeal to some people when overall they ARE a bad movie.
I guess you could always go see this instead. http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox_searchlight/phatgirlz/trailer/
