In my FHM ths month they have a polygamist and interview him? How is that possible? I thought it was illegal?
i have forced myself into watching the whole season, and have conclude that it is awful. definitely a chick show. come on people....one of the main plot conflicts has been a woman having a $60K credit card debt. how weak is that?? that's some riveting tv!
Wow. The season finale came down like a ton of bricks, hundredfold. Simply amazing. Wanda turning out to be a loony poisoner. Truly hysterical. Same with Joey trying to keep her in line. And the entire ending scenes was incredibly powerful. Barb's shame and guilt. The other wives' support. Nikki freaking out. The kids' doomed acceptance. And that final image of Bill's uncertainty. Great stuff. I don't know where they are going to take things next year (I can't imagine that they can keep their business and their homes with the truth swirling around them), but if it's anything like this season, we should be in for something special.
I did not expect them to be exposed. But that aspect of the show pushed credibility. If someone on my block owned three consecutive houses with a wife in each, their secret would last the greater part of a day. Add kids into the picture and you gotta know that that little secret of three moms is going to spread quick. And Roman has Bill Henrickson completely over a barrel. At anytime Roman could kick his mother and his brother and his dad for that matter out of camp and into his doorway. Roman also could use the three wife secret to make Bill's life hell. The last episode implied that he did, but taking down Bill means losing the Home Plus cash cow. Methinks we might have been misdirected here. WRT next year, it will be interesting to see how an exposed polygamist and business leader could escape jail and financial ruin. It also would not surprise me if next season is the last season.
that was a great episode, reminded me of the first season finale of the Sopranos. Tripplehorn (sp) was superb at the end. from the moment she was questioned all the way to the crying at the end. very powerful. the way it was set up was exceptional, nikki trying to talk her out of it. you and the character as well really didn't get the sense of how bad being exposed would be till it happened. bill being warned by his business partners about accepting that seat on the leadership council. the whole season of hiding led up to that final moment. it was awesome. bill simply saying, "we've been exposed".
I finally watched the last episode last night and it was great. I can't imagine how bad things are going to get for the family next season. Now for some Deadwood.
According to that settlement that they signed, he can't do that kind of stuff anymore. I was wondering if that also meant they couldn't re-assign Wanda to another husband (probably), but woe to the man who snaps her up if that did happen.
Well, if nothing else, Bill can forward all the new information he has to the AG, IRS, et. al. Man, what a heartbreaking episode though. I really never thought I could sympathize with any of these characters, but the scene at the award ceremony was just gut-wrenching. From Bill wondering why his employee was there to Barb being led out of the ceremony, you just feel the shock they felt at finally being discovered. I never thought I'd feel sorry for Roman's 14 year-old wife, but her being trapped in that place when she just wants to be a kid made me pity her. What got me was that they could've escaped scrutiny had Bill not grabbed the guy's arm. The First Lady made it clear that no one was to know the real reason why Barb was being disqualified. I agreed with Nicky about the award to begin with. Why would you open yourself up to that kind of scrutiny when people finding out this secret could completely ruin the family? When the tickets came and there were two missing, that's when I would've called the whole thing off. I'm already ready for next season. Now I need to watch Deadwood Season 2 to get caught up.
it was funny, the whole season they made barb seem like the most sane wife, and nikki and marjene were the ones who put them in danger of exposure the whole season with nikki's wardrobe and marjene with the neighbors but in the end it was Barb's selfishness that got them exposed. they made it seem like her selfishness wasn't a big deal but she was selfish with bill, with her job, with the household duties (constantly passing them down). in the end it bit the whole family in the arse because no one could keep her in check. nikki, the one wife in the family who had been raised in that environment was eventually the voice of reason, because of her exprience.
