has anyone ever recently been charged with just plural marriage? I think most of the legal problems have been for child abuse.
Well usually polygamy happen within a certain group of people. Lets suppse we start out with 50 men and 50 women. I one man takes 3 women what will other 33 men do?
Well Gay marriage is legal too BIG LOVE: Yea I have gotten into following the show. It is very interesting and keeps me watching. [Maybe we should just have a thread in the hang out about it. . .to not bogged this one down] Rocket River
I actually agree with the unfortunately named Artesticle. Modern challenges to marriage orthodoxy are revealing that the government structure around it is no longer appropriate to the reality. Forgetting the politically-charged stuff like gay marriage, you have a very large segment of society engaged in a serial monogamy that falls outside the structure. You have rampant infidelity and rampant divorce actions making a mockery of the whole system. You can have people living in polygamous relationships without being married to anyone. Many private companies that had taken marriages into account have amended their practices to make a marriage certificate unnecessary. I'm not convinced that any public good is still be addressed by granting rights to spouses. We probably need to just get out of the business entirely.
SFU is the shiz. I watched every freaking episode of every freaking season. Rome is probably my favorite show ever. HBO pisses excellence.
I am against (criminal*) laws that are not based on protecting people from OTHER people, directly. Anyone who wants to should be able to get married. I don't like that there are governmental benefits to being married, as it is not fair to single people. To me marriage should be purely religious, and not have anything to do with government. If there are religions that disallow or call for polygamy, so be it. Along the same vein, there should be no laws against the use of any intoxicant, against suicide, against prostitution, etc. Right from jump street we got involved in legislating morality instead of focusing on protecting the citizenry, and we are the worse for it, IMHO. *Obviously there is a need for things like taxation.
It's gonna be good. Since you cook them live, you can't pick them up until that morning. I'm hoping to be ready to dump the first batch shortly after three. We are doing 3 full sacks so there will be a ton. About 120 lbs.
Wow. Thats a lot of critters. Good thing y'all rescheduled. We were gonna have to miss it, but now we're in.
I think it all boils down to health care and taxes. How do you give healthcare to a family with multiple wives and kids? Can companies afford that? - Probably not....and the same with taxes. DD
I agree 100% with this, and even started a thread about it once. Consensual crimes are idiotic in the "land of the free".
I think they should do a show with one chick and three or more "significant others" who are guys. In the interest of equality. Scarlett Johansson should be the chick!
Despite being a Christian, I am changing my mind on a lot of issues because morality cannot be legislated. The Congress passes laws, and they are among the most lawless in the country. Let plural, homo/hetero sex run rampant. I pity the children, but many of them are unsure of whom their parents really are. We would have to eliminate any tax breaks for marriage / non-marriage as well as tax breaks for children. Universal medical coverage for everybody makes those tax breaks unnecessary. However, to pay for universal medical coverage for everyone, including illegals, we need a bigger tax base. That's why I would also make all pharmaceuticals legal -- including edibles, smokeables, inhalants and drinkables. For those too weak to deal with addictions, the Kevorkian solution would be administered. Gaming and prostitution also should be legalized and taxed, regardless of the consequences. At the same time we could eliminate speed laws so we could get to the brothels and gambling houses faster to raise more money. True, there would be a greater loss of life, but these losses would open up more jobs for those strong and sane enough to survive our brave new world.
Let's first get gay marriage legal throughout. Then we can concentrate on polygamy. Then we can honor those who love their dogs more than anything in the world.
No. Let's do it all at once -- no more gradualism. BTW, I completely forgot the pro-beastiality segment of society. What was I thinking.
