I disagree. From what I have seen, Pierce is very fast for a SF. He is pretty fast for a SG, so I see KT having a lot of trouble with this assignment.
I'm just curious why this is the first time we're seeing this lineup. I wonder if Rudy really does read the BBS? It's about time.
I am thinking EG will probably be the 3 tonite, not KT. If Rudy is experimenting, then he probably wants to see what EG can do at the 3. He has already seen what he can do as a 5, now its time to see what he can do at the 3.
This may be true, but another thought just crossed my mind. I think Rudy is ready to start EG. He realizes now that the guy is ready, and the team plays better when he is on the floor. However, having noted that, neither KT nor Cato has, of late, been playing in such a manner as to deserve benching. So Rudy puts them all on the floor at the same time. If it works out (here I am assuming KT is playing SF, since he is shorter and faster), then that is great. If it doesn't work out, in all likelihood it will be because KT can't handle the defensive assignments on the faster small forwards (like tonight). If Kenny can't handle it, he might be benched in favor of one of our other, quicker SFs (please be Oscar). If this happens, Kenny is back to where he was last season, the backup PF, and coming off the bench. This allows Rudy to move Griffin to center next season, and put Mo Taylor back into the starting rotation without too much b****ing from KT (because he did after all have difficulty guarding the 3's of the league). Now, again I might be reading way too much into this, but it just crossed my mind and I thought I might share it. And like I said, if KT plays small forward great, and we win, that as well is excellent, because that position is currently not producing much for the team.
I would love to see EG on Pierce, but I would be concerned about "rookie" calls. From what I have seen of Pierce (not a ton), he seems to get more points by shooting over smaller players than out quicking bigger players. Thus I think EG and Kenny would match up more effectively than Mobley.
hahahahahahahha! langhi will never play for the rocks again. he sucks.... very pleased with tonites line up though.
No way. Webber is better than Walk I'll give you that but I would take Pierce over Peja anyday. Pierce can beat you off the dribble and light you up from the outside.
But Peja shoot %50 while Pierce shot %43. I do think Pierce is better than Peja but Webber is far better than Walker.
Although we won, playing Boston was a example of why taylor and Griffin or Thomas/Griffin will not work. The bad thing about it is there are a lot of 3's that would crushGriffin,Thomas,Walt,Rice,or Griffin at that spot. That is the example of wh we need to upgrade that spot.
Yeah thats true but I don't think you can judge by that game because Paul Pierce can destory pretty much any 3 in the league and Walker is like a 3 playing the 4 position which makes them tough as hell to defend.
Lil Francis- Just from the point of playing Griffin with someone rather than him just playing the 4 and getting another player. He needs to be on the court period, who else needs to be at the other forward spot is the question. Looking at the west and seeing Webber/Peja,Howard/Dirk and some 3's in our conference, even with Rice or Williams we're at a disadvantge. I know every team has a weakness, but the key is minimizing those weaknesses. If we're weak at 2 spots, it puts more pressure on Francis, Mobley and Griffin.
leebigeze said: I know every team has a weakness, Could we be seeing the beginning of a breakthrough, an end to calling for Mo T's, KT', Cuttino's, Moochies, Rudy's and possibly Steve's head ?
i never called for Steve's head, I just said he gets unneccesary techs. Rudy T still hasn't got us in good offensive flow as evident that we shot 50% from 3pt land and won by 4. Taylor or Thomas, maybe both still has to go and Moochie still dribbles too much. I just want us to have a team that no one can slack off of on offense, similar to Dallas,Sac,and Milw. No one can deal with Shaq, but if you have 4 good offensive players that can play together and produce night in and night out, you give your self more of a chance. I still think we need to upgrade the 3 or 5 spot before we can call ourselves fit for a run.
Leeb, Rudy is NOT on the floor playing the game, it is the responsibility of the players to utilize the system, and right now the PLAYERS are the ones making the mistakes. Rudy can design a friggen ROCKET SCIENCE offense, but the guys on the floor still have to trust each other and run it, and frankly, some of the Rockets are not the "Sharpest tools in the shed" basketball wise. Speaking of big lineups, I've gotta give credit to Cato last nite. He was rock solid at both ends and kept his cool. I've been a Cato basher, but am seeing a flicker of hope.
