My wife works in a building nearby and could see this from her window.

Said it was a surprisingly small crowd that was protesting after seeing so much about it downtown for the last couple of days.

The police had cordoned off a "safe zone" that the folks could protest in, but they kept getting out of it and running up and threatening employees and just anybody walking by the street on their way to work...whether they worked for Halliburton or not.

That is when police started arresting people that would harass people walking by. Some protestors took exception to this so some tried to attack the police arresting those folks. The story pretty much covered it on from there.

Is this really representative of people's views? Seems like a pretty lame protest, but it got them national news, so I guess its considered a success for these folks.

Protesting isn't as effective or appealing when someone is term limited.

    From the chron article:

Nursing her foot with an ice pack, Cynthia Daly said a mounted officer outside the hotel ran over her foot with his horse. "They ran over my foot. They did not need to do that," she said.

"Ran over her foot with his horse" LOL, yeah I'm sure cops were just randomly picking out these peaceful protestors and training their horses to "run over their feet"

Funny how all the liberal defenders have vanished when the truth of these idiots is exposed.

The usual conservative crowd trying to be pro-war or support W.. Quick to criticize without having all the info. From what I understand most of these folks got arrested on purpose as a form of protest. It made the news, which was the point.

Frankly, what these people did was for the most part admirable. Yelling at a KBR employee or two. Real violent; much more so than 100,00 dead Iraqis. (I know they were only Iraqis ). Oh my God! going out of a "protest zone"; so much more horrible than ripping off a couple of hundred million of the taxpayers money.

The tender sensibilities of chickenhawks can be amazing when not rooting on the killing of foreigners.

They always claim this. I'm looking for some life experience here.
Anyone else know that police frequently claim to be assaulted when they are arresting people?

Do I know what happened? No; neihter do you.

glynch - have you watched all the videos? KHOU and click2houston have footage that's pretty damning.

    Don't ignore the facts.

No, I haven't watched the videos. I drove by the site around 11:30 AM, but it must have been over as there wasn't much going on.

I had planned on going, but it was a work day with less flexibility than usual.

I do know that both sides play a game. Cops and conservatives always claim to be assaulted and offended. Some of the protestors make a big deal out of every possible infraction by the cops.
