The controversy is that they received a "no-bid" contract and they have overcharged the government $200 million. The fact that Cheney was once CEO adds to the fun...

C'mon, FB. Surely you'll admit that its at least misleading to say only 'Cheney is getting paid by Halliburton' and neglecting to include the information that its a deferred payment that he'd have gotten regardless.

How irregular are no bid government contracts? And didn't they have to pay the overcharge back with a fine?

yeah i think he is getting paid by HAL on a per GI killed basis. they want as many soldiers dead so that the american military won't be as hard to fight off when halliburton takes over the world and turns us all into slaves.

LOL - you've been OWNED by T_J. If I had been near the computer the past few hours, perhaps the pleasure could have been mine.

Keep living in your fantasy world, liberals!

    Let's see...

I understand the deferred compensation argument. Very nice. It doesn't change my opinion on this whole mess, but I can see your side.

That being said, I think it takes more than a little naivety to infer that Cheney has no conflict of interest whatsoever in this case.

May want to add a 'wink' to that post as some people here actually believe this.

I agree there is a difference. It doesn't mean that he doesn't have an interest in Haliburton's well-being. But most importantly it also doesn't qualify as a lie, like bigtexxx, and TJ claim.

I'm not saying it is the exact same. Just that he was paid by Haliburton.

Well, it looks like the protestors couldn't behave themselves today. FIFTEEN were arrested by the Houston Police Department. The protestors PUNCHED, KICKED and SHOVED Houston Police Officers.

The fact that HPD had to have a sizeable force to babysit these scofflaws is a complete waste of taxpayer money, which made the rest of our city less safe.

Kudos to Halliburton for taking the high road with their statement: "Halliburton supports the rights of protesters," Halliburton said in a news release. "Even if they don't have the facts right, they have a right to speak up."

im sure there's another side to the story...but 15 people arrested for assaulting police officers? maybe not the best way to get your point across.

"Charges against the protesters include evading arrest, trespassing, assaulting officers and injuring a police horse."

Where is PETA when you need them?

Not to mention assaulting police horses. What would PETA have to say about this? I think they should protest this protest.

You guys are going after the wrong target, the 195K Cheney has already earned. Whether Halliburton has the Iraq contract would not have impacted this at all.

Much better off question if Cheney still holds any halliburton stocks/options, as the company financial performance would have a direct impact.

I found rather interesting that the liberals on this board in general are weaker in finance knowledge. Which proly contributes to the attitude "I don't understand it (finance/tax/accounting), therefore I must have been screwed by the people richer/higher than me"

He has options but the proceeds are pledged to charity. So as a result, he has absolutely no financial conflict of interest with Halliburton's ongoing business.

You are correct, what the liberals don't understand, they attack. I can't believe *anyone* doesn't have the capacity to understand that Cheney has no financial ties to Halliburton after reading the facts. Some people are just slower than others.

I detest your protest of my protest of PETA's lack of protest of the Halliburton protestors!

Wow. I just watched the video of the protest on click2houston dot com. It was bedlam out there today. The police really had their hands full with these protestors. What a waste of time and money for our city. glynch - are these the people that you support? Wow.

I wasn't surprised to see the protestors in the video sporting mohawks, leather garb and goth apparel. Pretty much met my expectation of this crowd.

I did kinda enjoy watching the woman scream after she got in the way of a police horse and got stepped on...That's what you get for being an idiot, babe.

Those protestors should be exiled to the countryside to face starvation. Society as a whole would benefit.

    No no!

They should be rendered to SA to be tortured! They obviously hate America and probably know where Bin Laden is hiding.
