This had nothing to do with the players. It was some owners vs. Goodell and his staff.

The players, the league, have all lost it. You remember when the players used to call the NFL the No Fun League. Well it's the No Fun League again thanks to the players. These players are idiots for trying to mix social issues and politics with sports entertainment. I love watching football just like I love having sex. Can you imagine right before sex we've got to kneel or pray or some bullshit for some social or political issue. That would just kill the mood and that's what these stupid players are doing. They're killing their own livelihoods because they're too stupid to realize it would be better to deal with these very important issues every other day except gameday. Sunday's used to be be fundays for me, cook and drink, watch some good football. Now it's like watching CNN with some bad football and bad QB'ing mixed in. Maybe a few good plays. Woooo!!!, can't wait. Who am I kidding. Wife asked me earlier today to go with her do a few things on Sunday and I was like nah... gonna watch the game. I've changed my mind. It's not fun anymore, it's annoying AF. Maybe we'll be done and home to watch the 2nd half but I won't care if we're not.

 

Has a full transcript of the meeting been released, or at least a partial one that contains the important part? I'd be interested in reading it. McNair really seems to be sticking to the stance that the idiom wasn't even directed towards the players. I couldn't find more of a transcript online beyond what was in the original ESPN article.
