This is the issue causing a major problem within the Texans right now. I'm sorry it's happening, but if you aren't comfortable seeing the debate that literally made the Texans star walk out on his team today then you should avoid this place for the time being.

I really can't believe this is happening now. The backlash against McNair is substantial. Have to wonder if this is going to hurt the team.

It's interesting as well that Duane Brown was so quick to lash out at him. I wonder if his holdout was about something other than contract? It's odd for a player with a contract dispute to not have leaked ANYTHING during the holdout. I wonder if Duane was demanding a trade because some sort of issue with his activism and McNair? His wife lashed out at McNair on twitter. There's something personal there.

Aww, is someone mad? I'm sorry our discussion got you upset, can I get you a safe place? Somewhere everyone agrees with you and no differing opinions perhaps.

I like a healthy debate as much as the next person. What bothers me is the emotionally charged insults and poo-flinging that several posters have reverted to.

This is WHY you leave politics out of sports. Sometimes, you say things meaning something entirely different...and then forever be branded as a racist.

    Hoping the NFL enjoys this.

Also in regards to the Texans team players, if any athlete not named Duane Brown has an issue with McNair's comments...I fully support their right to protest whatever they want too...infact, they should all collect their game checks from the guy giving them their checks. Arrange it into a nice pile and light it on fire. But Duane Brown, the self righteous hypocrite, who calmly collected his pay upfront...then decided to hold out for 8 games this year because of contract issues..fck this clown.

Finally, in regards to McNair's actual comments...I have seen the race baiter's comments(often the first to scream racist). I have also noted the opinion that McNair was insensitive when comparing the financial relationship that athletes have with their team owners...(if taken for direct comments...calling athletes prisoners, and owners the jailers)--> do the players really think they run this league? Are owners NOT allowed to have the final say for their business product? The premise of the owner's meeting was to address dropping revenue...LOL Good job Goodell..

It was really a stupid thing to say and just illustrates how many folks don't understand what the kneeling was about; McNair fits the demographic that doesn't understand.

It was a very very poor choice of words. As a houstonian I don't want my city or team to be seen poorly, but if you're thinking any response is unjustified you're crazy. Maybe just maybe the expression matches the context...but he sure as hell picked the worst phrase.

You have the race baiters for sure and then you have the "I'M NOT RACIST"-racists who have thrown out insults, cuss words and all around temper tantrums on this forum for months now about this and any other issue about minorities. Call them both out.

What a tone deaf thing to say considering the reason for the meeting in the first place.

Athletes have always taken a political stand, Jessie Owens, Ernie Davis, Arthur Ashe, Jackie Robinson, Ali, Lew Alcindor and Jim Brown to name a few.. As you can see the protest was not just in football.

And they are usually trashed for it at the time and remembered fondly for their courage later

CEO of a company uses a stupid and poorly chosen figure of speech and that means NFL players are slaves, they are oppressed, CEO is racist, black live matter, etc... Did I miss anything?
