How terribly uncouth it is to boo halftime entertainers. Do you boo the junior high school kids playing football at halftime in Reliant too?

    Thaaat's a shame...

Seriously, I've met a couple of those guys and they're really nice guys. Nothing like they are at games (ie. annoying). They do a lot of outside appearances for the organization out of the goodness of their hearts (ie. unpaid). They are told to pump up the crowd, given some drums, and sent on their way. What else are they supposed to do?

I know they're annoying during the games and everybody hates them, but I still like what they do during the player intro's. Beats the hell out of the tired techno music and Power Point presentation that every other team in the league does. They should just take a hike after the player intros.

The Rockets should get a band together like the Texans Bullpen Band. Those guys rock. Especially the bass drum line. ;)

I hate gimmicks...Big Bang is one of those.

I wish the Rockets entertainment staff would realize that the Houston crowd is comatose. They have always been. No amount of tricks or gimmicks will change that. The only thing that gets the crowd up is winning. Plain and simple.

Even then, they still are one of the worst crowds in the NBA. Maybe it's the age group? Ticket costs? Local income? Southern politeness? Who knows? "Golf clap" anyone?

The Compaq Center was always like this. The TC wont change anything.

Two words for you: Houston. Texans. Put a good, entertaining product on the floor and fans will respond. Unfortunately, the JVG half-court "system" puts people to sleep more often than not.

as much as i love basketball and the rockets, watching the rockets play at the toyota center is a boring experience. the PA announcer, the drum guys, and the energy from the crowd all suck. i prefer watching the rockets on TV...

Because it was obvious to any long time Rockets fan. Turbo has distinctive moves that only he makes. It was great seeing him and his crew at the game. They were a blast to watch. As for the drummer dudes, well you had to feel bad for them getting boo'ed. With that said they really sucked. I would rather watch paint dry then to be subjected to that half time insanity. I mean why can't we have the Power Dancers...seriously, this needs to be investigated.

I was at the game and they got booed pretty bad. My wife just kept saying how bad she felt for them, but we both agreed that the performance was not very good at all.

I was at the game when they got booed. I think it was in poor taste to boo a group of guys who hardly even gets paid. If you don't enjoy them just don't clap or write to management to complain. I think the fans booed them louder than for the opposing team and that's rediculous.

People have been complaining about the drummer guys on this board for a while now and this is the best source for management to get the fan's opinion. It was only a matter of time before they got booed and management should have gotten rid of them a long time ago.

Man, I hate that the poor guys got booed but not a single person in this thread stuck up for them... did they really suck that bad?

My high school drumline used to put together Stomp routines for pep rallies a few years ago and the stands would go insane for guys banging on trashcans, washtubs, brake drums... the routines were easy to choreograph and a gym full of cynical, jaded, "I hate school spirit" high school kids ate it up! Maybe these guys really are just in over their heads?

What happened is that they didn't use drums. What they had was a row of microphones and what looked like drum heads that they held in their hands. The sound was horrible. It sounded like they were beating on Tupperware lids. It was like a Gong Show act. If they would of used real, loud, drums I think they would of been fine. The routine was doomed from the beginning.

Now a "Stomp" style half time show would be cool. What these guys did was no where near this level. Suffice to say they should not return. I do feel bad for them, I mean who likes getting boo'ed?

Obviously, the majority of Rockets fans hate "Big Bang" and a number of people have suggested we use the power dancers more or that we even bring back Turbo. So here is my idea, we replace "Big Bang" with a new group called "Big Bust". A group of top heavy entertainers wearing power dancer like uniforms that jump on tramplones and attempt to dunk. Success is not really important, they just need the right "equipment", tight uniforms and trampolines. :D
