Come on! Can you just applaud for Mchale? Why do you want to turn it into a Lin vs Beverly thread? And why do you like to insult our players? What a life do you live?!!

The biggest thing he did: move Greg Smith in the starting line-up! Making adjustments is key to being a good coach and he finally showed he can do it. He showed confidence in Anderson as well, he could've put Delfino as a starter. Playing Garcia was also a good move. His time-outs were indeed key at times, right when you saw we were slipping he called one. Great job tonight [IMG]

You've got to be kidding me!! McHale benched all the starters because he was pissed Harden was not playing defense - not to rest them.

He gave away the game by benching ALL the starters because he didn't have the balls to bench just Harden. Parsons was playing well and Asik and Lin were playing ok. He should have just substituted Anderson for Harden and gone for the win.

All he did was put Smith in the starting lineup. Big deal.

...and the Rockets who were on the back end of a back to back and on the 3rd game in 4 nights against 4 upper echelon teams and without the teams superstar still managed to coach the team to a victory so yeah, it was a huge deal.

By the way, the Rockets were clear underdogs in the last 4 games and we came out victorious in 2 of those games to stay 3 games ahead of the Lakers and Jazz in the loss column with only 9 games to go. Outstanding job by McHale!

Without a doubt he has put in a Coach of the Year effort this season.

Had very little to do with the coach though.

We played an even more fatigued Clippers team who were playing their 4th game in 5 nights at HOME. And a combination of officials being on our side for once, the best defensive effort of the season & the ball moving without McHale's iso-Harden offense in play was the reason we won yesterday.

I'll give him credit for putting Smith in the lineup, it was a good move but that does not make him the second coming of Red Auerbach.

Coach of the Year lol. There are about 6/7 better candidates than McHale.

I hadn't thought of it that way, but maybe Steal&Deal has a point... that McHale benched all of the starters because he didn't have the guts to just bench Harden... that has a "ring of truth" to me.

I will give some props to McHale for the starting lineup he put out there last night. Anderson and Smith instead of Dmo and Delfino. I'll also give McHale some credit for running the offense through our bigs last night including DMO off the bench, although I don't know how much credit he REALLY deserves for that... it may have more to do with Harden out and everyone looking for everyone else to get involved more. I'll be very honest, I wouldn't mind seeing Harden rest one more game to see what these guys can do.

I hope McHale sits Harden until the Portland game Friday.

Mchale's coaching this year hasn't really been bad. Given the expectations at the beginning of this year I think Mchale's actually done a phenomenal job. You guys just have "favorites" you want him to give minutes too. Dmo is a decent player but his defense is atrocious and Lin has his moments but his decision making, particularly in the 4th quarter makes him a huge liability. If Beverly starts hitting his 3's Lin might have problems keeping that starting job

Why don't you be more specific about Lin's 4th quarter decision making because you just pulled that out of nowhere. In what recent games has his decision making in crunch time directly led to a loss? I don't even know how that is possible since come crunch time he is either benched or it's Harden ISOs.

Wow you've been around for a while and I always thought you were smarter than that. Lin is a Rocket and he seems to be a decent guy and a decent basketball player. Yeah he is no CP3 but what's with all the reverse hate.

I hardly follow it because I think it is the stupidest argument on these boards. So what if a bunch of guys come around just to root for Lin or Harden or any individual Rocket player. Many of fans that come over for Lin begin to be Rockets fans irregardless. It's human nature.

I remember when I started following the Rockets when Elvin Hayes was playing for them. By the end of that season I was a true Rocket fan and I liked all of them and that was when they were the San Diego Rockets. Right now I am a DMo fan. I like his attitude and I think he has potential. I was a bit disappointed that he was taken out of the starting lineup. But we won and that was more important. I was VSpan and I hated how JVG never gave him a fair shot to play here. I was a Battier fan and I hated that he got traded the same with Scola and to a lesser degree PPat.

I don't get all the hate for LOF's many of them are becoming Rockets fans if not already. I doubt any of them wish the Rockets lose. They are rooting for the same Rockets team that we are. How can that be a bad thing. Everyone has there favorite players. SO what if theres is Lin are was Yao or if it's Harden or DMo. So what if Asik's Mom roots more hi than Greg smith. It is the stupidest thing to hate them for that. Thes are some of the stupidest post arguing with fans who you consider to be inferior Rockets fans. ANd the thing is I always thought you were above that. You have been a Rocket fan for a while. Don't stoop to such cheapshot antics, you are above that. At least I hope.

Tell them like it is. Clippers at full force, cp3, blake, crawford, jordan and rockets with no star(not trying to be mean to lin's peeps) still pulled one through. Still not good enough.

This thread proves my issue with McHale.

You shouldn't have to applaud a coach for making a decent rotation.

    It should be EXPECTED.

There were times when Adelman's rotations made us pull our hair out too. Especially before tmac got injured and we had Rafer and Tmac in the starting lineup. There was this one game against the lakers where we had a 25 point going into the half and ended up losing by 30 points all because he stuck with Rafer and tmac so long and didn't go with the hot hand. You could make excuses liek that for most coaches in the league. Go read the spurs forum, people complain about Pop doing crap like that all the time.

I agree that McHale managed the game well in all respects. If we had lost that would not have been the case of course. LOL

Yes, agreed. It's nice to see ball movement and team defense. This is what McHale wanted to have for this team. Hopefully, he will keep remind Harden when they play teamball, they will play much better.

i am very happy with him on that timely timeout. it is the good call. he didn't wait too long when our bench kinda ran out the gas even they did fantastic job a little bit early ago. he immediately put back his starters to stop bleeding before it might be out of control.

He's a turnover machine & he passes up too many open shots for contested ones. When he's hitting 3's and defending hes finishing games. But I don't blame Mchale for benching him like some do.
