I'm confused. So they've called a press conference for today, but they haven't even decided what they are doing yet and are still talking to their consultants? What was the point of the last several months? This is so ridiculous.
This is literally the rose giving ceremony. Or the "we're not going to give anyone any roses" ceremony. Or the "we're going to wait and sleep on it some more" ceremony.
The level of incompetence is so high that it is impossible to know what they will do until they announce it.
Expanding for these reasons would be complete incompetence IMO. Whatever happens or doesn't happen, the conference will get some negative publicity because in the game of expansion, just like the playoffs, someone is bound to get left out.
The now deleted tweet: "Order came in from the presidents office, needed to be ready ASAP for a back drop for "something tonight" #UCtotheBig12? Stay tuned (eyes emoji)"

That looks like about what they are looking to do, at 2 terrible teams that will be automatic wins for most of the Big 12 and make the current members look a bit better. It's pretty clear that they are worried about adding schools that have good programs.
I'm hearing from SMU people it's Cinci and UConn. Doesn't seem to make sense but it's what I'm hearing.
That's true. I heard it on the radio as well two weeks ago. The people organizing the game are the ones referring to BYU as "Big 12." It does not have anything to do with those people knowing what the Big 12 has decided for expansion.
They just want to go home, it's clear they had already made up their minds weeks before. This whole thing was a pointless publicity stunt to generate exposure.
