Wait, what leverage does UH have at this moment? They are trying to look prettier than the other options and get chose. They don't have any leverage over any school voting to let them in.
In some sense they do though. If UH was to join a different P5 conference, it would be detrimental to recruiting by a conference that has very little footprint outside of Texas and Oklahoma. Look at what A&M going to the SEC has already done, now teams like Alabama and the like have easy access to recruits in Texas that was much more difficult before. Look at Alabama's 2016 recruiting class, they have 4 4 star Texas recruits Before A&M went there they had 0 in 2009, 1 in 2010, 0 in 2011. Hell they already have 2 four star Texas recruits for 2017 and one for 2018. Does the Big 12 want to risk further diluting the Texas recruiting pool?
Hey D*~<$HiT, do you have ANY CLUE where "cougar high" came from? UH played their home BB games at Delmar fieldhouse for a few yrs (which was a high school gym) before moving into Hofheinz in '69. When Hofheinz opened it was one of THE nicest arenas in the country. So A&M students/alums thought it would be funny to start referring to UH as Cougar high. Totally ironic because their own gym (G Rollie), which they played in from the '50s until '97 was a TOTAL PIECE OF $HI¥!!! You can say what you want, but countless UT alums have popped off saying the same thing "cougar high" for yrs as a way to try and put UH down. AS YOU...DUMBARTONBASS have clearly shown. Maybe you might want to go over to Cullen blvd and check out the school, because obviously you are one IGNORANT SOB!!!!
1. No other conference is expanding anytime soon. 2. Texas has been a major exporter of talent since Lord knows when. Since you mention Bama, they were that great pre Saban. And Houston talent has been going to the SEC for a long time. LSU has been pulling kids from here for decades. 3. Texas schools and OU still have top recruiting classes with A&M in the SEC. Leverage would be UH being able to play one conference against another. That's not the case. UH is on the sideline hoping some power conference, any one of them, lets them in. They, like every other school hoping to get chose, will give financial concessions to get an invitation.
What a **** show this thread has become. If you don't back up what you say with facts and then don't back them up again when called out then you are just trolling.
Brando you must be pretty young as it was well known back in the day why (and who) was keeping UH out of the SWC. D. Royal didn't want the black athlete playing for him for yrs, and in fact, the '69 Ntl champ team was ALL WHITE. I believe in '70 Royal pulled his head out of his ass, and finally had his first black letterman (Julius Whitter). Unlike D Royal, Yeoman wanted to find the best players he could and could care less about the color of their skin. Nobody is saying UT is scared of UH. They may want to pause before opening up Pandora's box and awaken a sleeping giant. Also, just because their chancellor publicly stated that he'd endorse UH, trust me the powers that be at UT will do everything they can to keep UH out. If you want to think otherwise by all means go ahead.
Why would anyone at UT ever think about UH? I bet if you poll random UT students, UH would be at the bottom of the list they are thinking about next to preparing for an alien invasion or zombie virus when London Beat wrote this song, they weren't thinking of UH <iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ixBryyQSrD8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
So much for that UH has leverage argument. I do hope they get chose though. http://www.houstonchronicle.com/new...hp?t=9db407476a438d9cbb&cmpid=twitter-premium
One thing about all this money being thrown around for college sports is where the hell does all the money go? The student athletes sure don't get a cut of it, at least not legally. Even though MILB are getting paid almost less than minimum wage at least they pay something.
That might be how it started (You or me really couldn't say for sure) but it has be used recently as a derogatory term for UH with the insinuation being that it is a commuter school.

Hard to imagine any decisions being made without the networks having a sit down with the conference first. Not sure if we'd hear about a meeting if there were one though.
I'm sure the networks will get their time. The Big 12 might be putting on a big show to scare ESPN/Fox into giving the conference more money in order to prevent expansion. ESPN/Fox would owe the conference 70 million more a year if 2 teams were added. Maybe they offer to increase the payout by 35 a year if the big 12 does not expand which would be an additional 3.5 million a year for each of the current teams for the next 8 years. The big 12 would have to believe that they could turn that expansion into an additional TV deal independent of their current ESPN/FOX agreement since almost all of the additional cash ESPN/FOX will have to fork up would for expansion. I just don't see where that extra money comes from because every school has sold away their 3rd tier rights.
We have a right to be pissed about UT's behavior. Don't think I'm going off lightly...On some level I apologize for my heavy handedness... But,I remember the UT/UH rivalry before...I grew up with it. What's happened since has exponentially multiplied things... It'll be a crazy day when we finally see the burnt orange on the field again.
Anyone says anything about UT (or they stand up for their own school), and they have an "inferiority complex" or they're "jealous"? It's certainly why a great number of their fans are THE most hated across America and especially in this region of the country (but it's just "jealousy" or they have an "inferiority complex").
