So in this discussion you want perspectives from people from other backgrounds. Not that they have better perspectives just different ones to add to the people who went to elite schools You are the only person who needed diversity explained. This is somewhat less true now, but just a couple of years ago the overwhelming number of black students at Harvard were the sons and daughters of African and Carribean immigrants, who are professors at American universities. Very few descendants of American Slaves, much less non elite US backgrounds. We are now starting to see legacy admissions form the black elite at these schools.
Why don't we have some high school dropouts represented in this cabinet? Whatever, elite colleges are just an idea.
True, but as we seen with Obama and Michele and others imho you see that after spending most of their pre-politician adult life around their IVY peers you see them (and not just opportunistically, though that, too, adopting the general contentment of the one perecent, their school chums and their coworkers who largely went to the same schools.
