Yup, that would be an impossible task for the President and his staffers. I'm sure a phone call by a freakin' intern would solve that problem.
Who cares if people rip him? Personally thanking even *ONE* family who lost a child is the right thing to do. It's common decency. I don't care if no other president in the history of the world has done this -- it doesn't make it right. Maybe Bush is refusing to visit families for political reasons. Fair enough. But that just means he's putting politics above basic human decency. Is that better or worse? But this isn't about politics, people -- these kids died in a war Bush created. Thanking them for their sacrifice is the absolute least he can do.
The military dared to criticize Clinton while we had soldiers in the field in harm's way? Don't they know that is helping the enemy? Of course now that Bush has cut funding for the schools on the soldiers families on military bases the Iraq thing, people in the military might not be so gung-ho for Bush. But who knows. I know several veterans groups in 2000 were disgusted by Bush's neglect of his duties during the Viet Nam era, and the fact that he didn't show up for a year of his duty while they were over in Viet Nam risking life and limb. They actively campaigned against him. I doubt that will change now.
You know what? My life would be a whole lot better, simpler and happier if I were the simpleton that you are. I sure wish my world were black and white (more white than black, naturally). I sure wish my world were neatly divided between liberals and those who are correct. By the way, I've been riding the public transportation system in NYC lately with more glee than usual. It's reasonably clean, quite safe, and I can go anywhere I want at any time of day or night for $20 per week. Of course, you may encounter people who are not obviously a member of your own socio-economic strata. In fact, you might even have to sit next to one! Or two! There are oxen plowing rice fields in a murky corner of Asia who have a fuller and more nuanced understanding of the world than you do, TJ. But, as a poster above noted, please keep it up. You are hilarious.
I think it is more like they were muttering under their breath about him. At any rate, they still followed the orders of the Chief. That had to be demoralizing for the enemy. They weren't ragging about setbacks; they just did their jobs.
Yep, they sure do love Dubya, as he strips their combat pay and post-service medical coverage to nothing. Giddy, RM95 was right. You need to join Dubya's re-election campaign. You are the biggest Bush apologist on this board.
