Somehow I'm doubting the PETA crowd is fully supportive of the Bush war machine. Perhaps they intended to discuss the war over dessert?
I agree it isn't as bad as some of the other stuff they've done. However, while the charity does get their money, there is a good chance a celebrity that donates their time and get's this crap might not do it again.
I don't have a problem with their cause, I just don't think their tatics gain them support. you're right bnb, it wasn't that bad, my point is what do they expect to gain if their ultimate goal is to help animals. all they're doing is embarrassing beyonce at worst. I don't know, maybe they feel they are down to their last resorts. that tactful discussion about the issue has gone out the window because they get no attention.
the peta crowd are a bunch of rich kids who havent worked a real job in their entire life. heavens forbid they run out of organic salad and jamba juice closes.
You're right Hayes. I guess they feel the celebrity earned 'this crap' by promoting fur. Perhaps Beyonce can be convinced to join the anti-fur movement and participate in one of the naked celeb promotions. Would that be such a bad thing?
my favorite anti-peta momment was when they asked Charles Barkley to tell the NBA to stop using leather basketballs. Charles made a classy appearance on TNT and thanked PETA.. then he pulled out this huge hamburger and started eating it. http://www.clintcam.com/barkley/ Ernie Johnson said relates a Barkley moment: "Like the night he came out on the set at halftime and started eating a hamburger as his own personal protest of PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals). He said something to the effect that animals were 'only good for eating and testing,' to which I replied, 'You know you might have 'em protesting outside our studio with talk like that.' " Barkley: "That's fine, we'll just run 'em down like dogs." Johnson: "Oooooh-K ... and we'll be back." PETA was not so amused. "It was alarming to say he would run us down like dogs," Lisa Lange, vice president of communications for PETA in Los Angeles, said Thursday. look how mad the organic eating fools were at that! http://getvegan.com/blog/2002_05_12_archive.php
whatever! beyonce is not going to be forced to change her views by a cowardly tactic. beyonce, wear WHATEVER you want !
on the other end of the spectrum, they will do anything for a celebrity to join their cause... in Feb 2005, the Beastie Boys (known for their political activism) were approached in an Australia airport by a woman who asked them to sign a petition against KFC's cruelty to chickens... they signed the petition and went on their merry way... the next day, PETA drafted up a nice letter and photoshopped their signatures, next to their typed names and passed it off as a letter written to KFC personally from the band... had a nice press release, came up on every news wire across the globe... this was Adam Yauch's response "Wow, **** gets hectic quick. Sign a petition in an airport and next thing you know you're a poster-boy. This **** needs some straightening out. For the record, we did not draft this letter. Basically it went down like this; a lady was walking around an airport in Australia asking people to sign something. When she approached me I thought (and I assume that Adam and Mike did as well) that it was a petition that she was getting as many signatures on as she could. So I signed it thinking that I might be able to help out with stopping some unnecessary suffering of some birds. But I thought that my name would appear in conjunction with thousands of others. By the look of the letter that PETA sent out, they must have scanned our signatures, photo shopped them neatly in order and then added our names typed in, so that it would look like we drafted and sent the letter ourselves. And from all the news hits they got on this, they must have sent it out to every news outlet they could get a hold of. The strangest part of it is that the press just printed it without checking in to see if we really wrote or sent the letter. I'm sure PETA is well intentioned, but seriously, what the f*ck? Pull your **** together. If we want to draft an open letter to someone and send it out to the media we'll do it ourselves." -Yauch
What exactly is the point of wearing real fur these days, and why would you not do it? I mean, I could understand if this was the stone ages, but WHY do it today? The PETA issue aside...they are nuts and certainly weren't using the right forum, can ANYONE really support fur clothing??
It looks nice. It is comfortable. It is warm. It is 100% bio-degradable and renewable (unlike synthetic fur).
Probably about the same time when the nut-job anti-abortion demonstrators realize it. Every cause has a fringe that the remaining folks arn't proud of.
i dont like pam anderson. shes not hot, she's so fake. have u seen pics of her before all that plastic? much nicer.
not sure if ive seen her before, but i agree i don't like fake. fake t***, fake nose, fake lips... hey lady, your kids are gonna be just as ugly as you were before you paid to get all that work done! but having said that, beyonce doesn't appear to be fake, so seeing her would be kinda nice
