http://blogs.herald.com/miami_heat/2014/03/heres-what-udonis-haslem-said-to-pat-beverley-at-halftime-and-other-stuff-about-the-rockets-excitabl.html Apparently Bev was talking trash ALL GAME to Chalmers and Cole. It got to the point where their coach had to take Cole out the game before he lost his cool. I thought it was funny Haslem came over to Bev after the game and told him to chill lol. How can Bev not be in your top 5 favorite players? This guy's looking for a challenge every game. Reminds me of Gary Payton a little bit
Every team needs a guy that gets under player's skin, and that's what Beverly does. I'm sure I would hate his guts if he played elsewhere.
Better than that in my opinion was the fact that he gave CP3 hell and after the game CP3 sought him out and told him good game. CP3 is the gold standard when it comes to being a pain in the butt on the court. When he gives another player props..means something.
I actually saw him walking over to Bev after the game, but I thought they were still jawing a little bit.
Exactly. And I know for a fact I would hate his guts if he played on a different team. I am GLAD he is a Rocket!
Definitely nice to have a guy who's heart and inner fire are able to command tired legs to hustle, give it up for defense, lift on 3's...etc.
he is ready. one thing about bev is he relishes his ******* persona. even if he is outmatched, he certainly doesn't believe it. pat beverley thinks he is the the greatest pg on the court and talks like it. you need crazy on your team and bev is it. i bet his teammates even ask him to chill out. i have yet to see bev timid or scared; he was the only fearless one in the clipper game. i mean, he literally tried to get in a fight with cp3.
That sequence last night where he blocked a shot, stole the ball, then drew a charge at the other end... I remember just sitting there with my mouth agape and then kinda smiling and saying "what an ***hole." So glad he's our ***hole.
Thats spot on, i am seeing more and more of a Gary Payton / Mad Max type of player developing with this kid. Haslem is right though, he needs to be careful with the emotions to an extent as it could be his/our undoing in a really heated battle or moment in the playoffs (think mass player ejections for a game or two in a tight series).
I don't think we've had a tougher guy on this team since Bob Sura from back in 04-05. Beverley brings a toughness that is much needed on this team. He does a lot of dirty work, and it really goes unnoticed sometimes.
Beverley talks trash but be doesn't strike me as a loose cannon. Just a relentless competitor. I don't think the Rockets have to worry about mass ejections because of Beverley.
Man, i remember at least a couple of games this season where he gets that crazy-eyed look in his face like he is about to go Ron Artest on someone. I think it was the Phoenix game where Asik had to hold him back? Anyhow, one of the few opportunities for improvement i see with this kid. He is quickly developing into a great role player for our squad and bringing much needed energy to the rox.
I assume then you haven't seen that LAC clip where a fan is talking smack to Bev as he fouled out and was going to the bench and Asik had to pull him back from pulling a Ron Artest #2 haha...vid's in the GARM.
I think that was GSW, where he was about to get into it w/ a fan? ETA -- here it is. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/H6kAH8Fi3ag" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Pouty T. Jones is the best part of this clip.
I don't think he has that type of persona at all. He is hard-nosed for sure, but he isn't Matt Barnes who tries to fight everyone. Bev is a pest, he is Mr. All-Day, and he talks the way he walks, but he doesn't pick fights nor does he try to get others ejected.
