Morey should be blamed for not getting any good replacement, we could see this coming a miles away and have been saying it for about 2 years now.

Kinda naiv to think Beverley would be back in 3 weeks after the surgery. More realistic - 3 months :(

We should seriously consider a minutes restriction on Bev and bringing him off the bench. He is actually most effective in that role and can change games with his intensity and aggrrssion.

Bev is full of crap. I don't trust anything that he says. He will miss at least 20 games, not 3 weeks of action.

Imo, it wouldn't be a bad idea to start KJ next to Harden with Pat and Gordon coming off the bench...also cause i kinda see KJ plays more under control when Harden is on the floor, when he plays with other bench guys it seems like he always handles the ball and tries to create too much...

Bev is probably stating the earliest he's allowed to resume bball activitities.

If you look at the schedule, 3-4 weeks puts him at 15 games missed, and right before a 5-game road trip.

So MDA's 20-game statement probably means first game is when we return from that 5-game road trip, which is exactly 20-games. Guys coming off surgery often don't fly right away

While that's all good and true, he didn't get the "Wolverine" nickname for nothing. As notorious as he is for getting injured, he's also known for recovering shockingly sooner than the estimated recovery time. I'd be shocked if he missed the 12/1 game against the Warriors.

Most optimistic: 1st game back against OKC 11/16
Some measured optimism: 1st game back against Toronto 11/23
Worst case scenario that would shock me: 1st game back against Golden State 12/1

regardless if he came back sooner than expected, was he really fully recovered when he did so. If anything, he just has a higher level of tolerance of playing hurt but doesn't mean he came back healthy when he was supposed to.

You might be missing some key things here vs what MDA is suggesting.

First 20-games isn't just a random number by MDA, it is exactly the amount of games ending with that 5-game road trip.
    • The Coach won't toss him back onto the court without at least one day of full-contact practice under his belt, especially this early in the season. We have a brutal schedule in Nov that doesn't really look like we have ANY practice days. Nov 15th is possible practice unless declared a travel day prior to back to backs. He probably wouldn't do a full practice that soon anyhow.
    • Nov 16th vs Westbrook is probably worst matchup possible for a first game back. It would be really stupid for him to reinjure himself against Westbrook. So, I say no to OKC on Nov 16th
    • Nov 18th looks like a rest day, following a back to back. So, we are still yet to have a practice day.
    • Nov 20th is a travel day to Detroit, no full practice.
    • Nov 22nd is return very early in the morning from Detroit. No full practice
    • Now we are 3 1/2 weeks post-surgery and at the 5-game road trip...and doctors/trainers say no to that much travel...so he stays behind in Houston
    • The first practice days look like after the 5-game road trip ending Dec 2nd...practice on Dec 4th
    • Dec 5th is the 21st Game of season....Thus, why MDA said 20-games missed.

So, the 21st game is quite possibly picked by MDA based on lack of practice time in Nov and the 5-game road trip, since it exactly = Dec 5th home game after full practice days.

Well stated @heypartner. I would love to believe Beverley will be back sooner, but I am not counting on it.

let's hope he doesn't step on any sharp edges over the next few weeks, lest he have to extend his medical leave due to foot cut again. same goes for poison ivy on the knee

And take away his game stations, so he doesn't get another wrist injury while laid up on the couch fervently mashing his controller.

Why can't we get one just one capable guard playing next to Harden? Since Harden has been here, Maury has been through more guards than toilet paper rolls trying to find a perfect match. Now the two primary guards playing next to Harden are both injury prone (Bev and Gordon).
