lol, what? how do you know that Bev can't feed the post? We didn't have any post player last year. His spacing was fine, there was nothing wrong with spacing. I'm just suggesting Bev to start, since howard and harden will dominate the possessions. Lin can come in with 6 minutes in the 1st quarter or so, and run more of the plays when Dwight comes out, which will be similar to this past year with Lin and Hard on the same court. I don't know why people label bench player as a negative thing. I even propse Lin to play starter minutes. you're right, I guess it's impossible to discuss anything rational with a Lin topic
I'll go with Lin as starter ~ I like him for his offensive firepower and killer instinct. Last year was disappointing - new team though, uncertainty about his role, coming back from injury, just not as strong as he was before. He displayed brief moments of his potential. Waiting for that Killer Instinct to return.
All I am saying is with our starters with Harden, Parsons, PF, Howard the possessions will be very limited. I rather have Bev start and he doesn't even have to run the offense, let harden. Let harden and parsons to throw it in the post to howard. I just see it's a waste of talent of Lin to play with that lineup when we can maximize his penetration when Howard is on the bench. Of course let Lin play in the final minutes ala Ginobli/Jack and we'll have our best lineup.
In theory it makes sense. We really don't need Lin with the starters since Harden, Howard, and Parsons all give us scoring punch. All the PG needs to do is play good D and hit the open 3. Lin can come off the bench run the show with complete freedom. He won't be the Linsanity Lin playing with the starters.
Lin is definitely starting guard material, just an average one. The question with Lin is really how much more room does he have to really improve? There are a few more less important ones like: - Will he continue where he left off near the end of the season or did the injury completely throw off his rhythm? - Will he continue to improve as an off the ball spot up shooter, which is critical for him on a team with Harden and Dwight? - Will having a player like Dwight who can actually CATCH his passes recapture some of that Linsanity magic he had with Tyson Chandler? - Can he become a better team defender on the perimeter when Harden expectantly sags off and leaves his man unmarked?
On a team that made the playoffs. OP: it's dangerous to have Harden play PG, he gets tired, sticky and turnover prone if he handles the ball too much. IMO it's good to have Lin start to get D12 and Parsons going with easy baskets. I think it's better to have Lin learn how to be a more steady point guard rather than changing him into a reckless scorer. With more experience he should be able to figure out the position. I think this move is quite short-sighted.
It's also funny that Lin has the ability to improve, but Bev improving doesn't even cross some people's minds. Like he is a 30 year old against vet at his ceiling. The one way thinking can be frustrating.
Lmao u mad? Starting a player =/= Starter quality Did you forget we started Stromile Swift for a year?
of course he can improve. Everyone keeps saying 3rd year in the league he should be better and he would if he had more stability around him. He's had 3 different teams, 3 different coaches, 3 different styles in 3 seasons. Finally he comes back with some familiarity with the coach and personnel, that itself should help. Bev is an energy, spark off the bench. He's not going to be running pick and roll, throwing alleys to Dwight like Lin can. Start Lin because he'll make Dwight better.
Heh? He led one of the highest scoring teams in the NBA in assists. IF Bev averaged 13 pts 6+ assists and started 82 games last year for one of the league's highest scoring offenses, you'd be saying he's a sure starter.
the same type who thought Kyle Korver was worth 6 million a year just stand around and shoot? The argument stands...they watched him play thought he was not nba material. They watched him play some more and now he's a back up. What'll happen when they watch him for another year?
won't happen. IF it did, they'd put Jeremy back into the starting role the very next game. All season long, the other team always had a plan for option 1.) Harden and 2.) Jeremy (even though I don't consider Jeremy Lin as our second best player). The defense always have a gameplan for those two
I think it is a horrible idea, you need your best player starting and that is without a doubt Lin. Lin can work well with Howard by getting him a lot of easy buckets, Bev doesn't have the same play making ability's.
With all due respect, this topic has been discussed to death already. Simply out, you don't pay someone, anyone, over 10 mil to come off the bench. Case closed.
You mean SAS and Ric Bucher? I wouldn't give them much respect. NBA GMs actually waived him, so they don't carry a lot of weight on this issue. Same with the college coaches who didn't give him a scholarship. Jeremy will prove them wrong once again.
