better than vancouver? make the playoffs? R U serious?

I have to say that I also really like the Grizzlies starting 5. Actually, I've been a fan of the Grizzlies for a couple of years now (what can I say? I love losers). However, it is very hard to say how good Van is going to be next year. I think they have the potential to get a whole lot better and be a perrenial playoff team in the next couple of seasons. The reason? Not Swift. The new owner (Heisley? Is that his name?). From what I've read about him, he seems like a very competent guy who wants to make the Grizzlies a winning organization. He seems to have made some good moves in putting together his front office. I'm a little confused about the head coach, but I will assume Heisley knows more on the subject than I do. I am of the philosophy that the best front offices win. If Van's new guys are as good as I think they might be, the team will get very good.

However, Houston's bigshots are also very good. And given that Van's front office team is new, it will take them awhile to adjust and build up the steam that Houston already has. They also have to overcome the bad reputation and poisoned team spirit that remains from the previous regime. So I don't see them overtaking the Rockets next season and possibly not ever, given the curve I'm expecting from us.

in several recent threads, almost to a poster you guys predict houston will finish ahead of vancouver next year. why? i think vancouver has better talent than houston does, by a mile.

Vancouver may have better talent, but Houston has superior heart, mental toughness, and coaching. Rudy T, or Sidney Lowe. You decide.
