Note to all: keep in mind that Yao is is LAST name, and Ming is his first name. Some of those 'Yao' nicknames don't work so well when you realize that it's his last name.

It needs to roll off the tongue quickly and easily, like "Dream' or "T-Mac". I thinK Dragon or Sting are the closest so far. (I like Dynasty, but it just doesn't come out quickly.

What? I'm not real sure anyone will except that one.

I haven't heard Calvin and Hobbes say it yet, but is it Yao-Za or Yaozer or Yaoza'?

The further things go, the more it looks like he will be a man that wears many nicknames. Many of the just plain weird like Yaotomatic. I will never use that one, ever.(unless paid to do so)

In China his name is Yao Ming. In the US it would be read Ming Yao and that's why "Yao" is on his jersey. We call him Yao Ming cuz that's just the proper way to say his name in Chinese.

Just like me. I go by Wei Chiang here in the US. In China I would be Chiang Wei.

That does sound menacing, but not in a good way. Kind of sounds like a disease.
