Interview with Vince Gilligan about the episode Spoiler https://variety.com/2020/tv/news/better-call-saul-vince-gilligan-recap-episode-8-1234572360/
Agreed. The proverbial "peak" of the series thus far.... reminded me of the lost pines episode from the Sopranos.
Man, that scene where Jimmy gets fed up and just starts walking with the space blanket with the truck barreling down on him in the background...that was intense. Love this show so much. And Odenkirk's reaction when he decides to drink his pee. That was so perfect. Like you could see in his face how disgusted he was, but you could also see him make that internal decision that he was going to get through this, no matter what, and he was going to get his. Kind of like the final Saul Goodman transformation, in that tiny microcosm. I'm really curious what's going to become of Nacho in this series. I have a feeling he's not going to make it, but will end up taking down Lalo with him.
how did mike know that the money exchange was going down? and where and when? did saul ask him to be his lookout and i just missed that part?
Mike gave Saul the info to ensure Lalo would be granted bail.... so it makes sense that Gus would ensure that the bail money makes it back safely and he would send Mike to watch over Saul in case shenanigans happened. Looks like they had the tracker in Saul's gas cap... similar to what they did in Breaking Bad.
When the Esteem finally broke down, Mike removed the gas cap. It was a call back to when Fring put a tracker in Mike's gas cap when he was going to assassinate Hector Salamanca. Lalo getting bail is public knowledge, aided by Mike's evidence of witness tampering. He guessed Saul would be Lalo's bag man.
ah yes...i saw mike remove the gas cap, but i didnt put that together. also, did kim just kill herself? like mike said, "shes in the game now".
A theory I heard about Kim. I'll put it in spoilers in case but it references aired material. Spoiler In Kim's childhood flashback, her mom's car had a Nebraska plate. Saul relocated to Nebraska as Gene. When he's calling the vacuum guy, Saul has second thoughts and declines changing his identity again. The theory is Saul as Gene will seek out Kim who might have moved home to Nebraska after a falling out with Saul.
Kim was done for the moment she walked into that interview room it will be one of the darkest moments on TV why did Mike/Gus set Lalo up to go jail only to help bail him out? Any other show would be lazy and have Schweikart/Main/Hamlin be your typical rich ******* lawyer character (to sort of justify Jimmy/Kim's behavior). But all of them are decent and professional. Jimmy and Kim are the reckless/unprofessional ones.
I think they hoped jail would take him out of the picture but he's still calling the shots from inside and causing problems.
He needs to get out of jail so he can get some 'accident' to happen like what happened to Hector. Gus can take out the Salamancas without having any blame .
Hamlin has always been the most honorable guy on the show IMO. Other than carrying himself like a Dallas-douche, he's aight. I think I mentioned this before the series even started, but my guess is Saul does something to help Mike's daughter get her money. I believe that money gets tied-up with the FBI post-BB.
It was explained...as a miscalculation...not that their plan failed, but it needed more action. Mike and Gus had a conversation — wrt the arson order — that Lalo in jail did little to take him out of the picture. so, they bet that once out on bail he’d run and make it back to Mexico...making him a fugitive too hot to return...and they’re at least back to where they started before he arrived.
