some other players to keep in mind Ben Wallace can't make a freethrow -- and he makes 50 million (previously coached by Larry Brown) Shaq can't make em either -- he makes more $$$ than I can even imagine (previously coached by Phil Jackson and Pat Riley) Some players make em, some don't. There's a lot of reasons why. With Chuck, it is a yip, or flinch brought on by apprehension. Shaq's hands are too damn big, and I don't know why Big Ben struggles. My point is that bad coaching or a lack of effort on Chuck's part are not the only answers to his problem.
I totally disagree...there have been players that actually become better free throw shooters over time: eg: Karl Malone... Also those coaches you mentioned probably never break down shooting mechanics...it is beneath them.... It is interesting... I equate it to someone who didn't learn the basics in elementary (reading & math) and trying to wing it in highschool...the high school teachers are gonna teach Dickinson, Thoreau, etc and not the fundamentals... Also I refuse to believe that those players you mention can't be better...obviously they don't have the wherewithal to figure it out themselves, so they need to trust someone and that someone needs to teach the right thing...
When you got 3 rings under your belt and being the finals MVP, averaging 30 and 15, you probably proved your worth no matter how badly you shoot your FTs, but if you are a role player and Chuck Hayes, you better make those damn free throws.
