'The Machine' hands down. He's not even good enough to deserve a nickname.

edit - I like 'Great Wall'

"Magic" Johnson is pretty good. I like T-Mac as a nickname because it flows.

I think "Dream" is the best, though.

    Worst: Don't know. There's a couple, lol.

Best: The Dream. This sounds too sweet! Is The Dream Team named after him?

    Worst:
    The Matrix (WTF?)
King James (more like Prince James) ,
    The Kid
The Big Aristotle (should be the Big Pupil)
The Admiral (more like the Ensign :D )
    The Diesel

He was on the 96 Dream Team. But not on the Original 92 Dream Team.

What are the criteria you guys use? Coolest sounding? Most relevant?

I like nicknames that flow in between the guy's name. Hence why Hakeem 'The Dream' Olajuwon is my favorite. I also like Clyde 'The Glide' Drexler.

I also like nicknames that can be used easily instead of the player's name. Hence T-Mac. I don't mind nicknames like T-Mac, D Wade, KG, etc. I guess a lot of you guys hate them. Of course not all of them flow, but most of them aren't that bad.

    Best:
    1. The Dream
    2. Air Jordan
    3. "Pistol" Pete Maravich
    4. The Iceman
    5. Skip 2 My Lou (Earned on the streets in NY)
    6. AK-47 (Perfect)

Honorable Mention (in no particular order):
    1. "Magic" Johnson
    2. The Glove
    3. Glide
    4. Doctor J
    5. The Great Wall
    6. The Admiral

    Funny:
    1. The Vagine (LOL)
    2. Ginobody (LOL)

Sasha 'The Vagine' Vujacic. It's perfect.

Any self given ones are pretty bad most of the time. STAT would be cool if it didn't stand for Standing Tall and Talented, and if it wasn't made by Amare himself.

No, he wasn't. There was no 1996 Dream Team. Hakeem was on the 1996 US Men's Basketball Team. There was no "Original 92 Dream Team" because there is only one Dream Team.

    Meh, whatever.

Recently they've stopped calling the subsequent Men's National Bball Teams after the 92 team as Dream Teams, but back in the days, they called them Dream Team II, Dream Team III and so on...

Hakeem was on Dream Team III.

The 1992 Olympics was the first time we were able to use professional basketball players on the Men's team. Thus, American team of our dreams could be created from every one of the best players around.

I do remember people calling the other teams "Dream Teams", but they were incorrect. There really was only one Dream Team.

That said, Hakeem was on the 1996 Men's team. That would make it the first Olympic team after the Dream Team. So by your numbering system, that would be II, not III. Of course, you might be counting non-Olympic teams as "Dream Teams" too, which would mean, what, we're on Dream Team IX?

It wasn't "I" who called it anything.

Media, fans , and the players called them Dream Teams. And the 1994 Men's Team in the World Championship held in Toronto were considered Dream Team II.

    Thus ends the history lesson.

lol, didn't mean to get personal! This part of a looooooong series of semantics arguments between one of my old roommates and me. This one came up more than once, and I used to take the Dream Team I, II, etc. position. I eventually came over to his side (duh).
