Oh! Can't believe I forgot this: 'Antichrist Superstar' (the album) by Marilyn Manson. There are a couple of songs that you'll want to skip through, but 80% of this CD is perfect workout music. It has a great progression too, becoming more and more intense as it goes along.
Bonecrusher- Never Scared Youngbloodz- Damn M.O.P- Ante up Slim Thug- 3 kings Mike Jones- Still Tippin Geto Boys-Yes Y'all Bravehearts ft Nas and Lil John- Quick to back down
I used to go hit racquetballs to the entire RHCP album "Mother's Milk." Best running/cardio songs: Begin the Begin - REM Comfort Eagle - Cake Connection - Elastica Too Much - DMB Running Down A Dream - Tom Petty It's Tricky - Run-DMC Dancing With Myself - Billy Idol (OK, a lot of the 80's stuff just works for some reason) Wherever I May Roam - Metallica Vertigo - U2 The gym here has a downstairs area with some nice, pretty weight machines with pink trim and a little light workout equipment. In other words, geared toward girls. It plays disco. I will not go in there without headphones. Upstairs is a room with a variety of no-frills weight equipment (in blue) including machines and free weights. Yep, the guys' room (unofficially). They play good music in there, but I'll only go when there aren't many people because otherwise I would feel like a trespasser in guy territory. (like, you know, when posting on a Rockets board... except there are actually several women now so it's a lot better) The other problem I have to deal with is group aerobics classes. It's a great way to get a workout, except you have to put up with the music. It's beyond "girly". I actually left a class early once because the soundtrack must have been J. Lo.'s greatest hits and I just couldn't take it. Usually it's not much better... Britney, Christina, boy bands set to an aerobics beat, and those are the GOOD songs. A lot of them are just lame and don't serve as an inspiration to do something that might not feel good... like putting your body through a workout. They serve as an inspiration to leave the room. Sappy female-centered dance music. I've learned plenty of things that I never wanted to know; for example, that the Spice Girls actually make OK aerobics music, but Hanson does not.
System of a Down - Cigaro Disturbed - Stupify Foo Fighters - Wind Up Offspring - Gotta Keep Em Seperated Slipknot - Wait and Bleed
Any old Pennywise record. (Self Titled, Unknown Road, About Time) Bad Religion - Suffer ACDC - Live SLayer - Reign in Blood *I just feel too silly working out to techno/electronic music even though I do like to listen to it at other times. That is such a good album. I'm still upset that Crazy Town used the sample from "Pretty Little Ditty". I'm sure Flea cashed in though.
I love finding workout music and basing playlists for it. Essential workout stuff is fast, heavy guitars or hardcore rap like.... Deftones - My Own Summer (Shove It) Deftones - Change (In the House of Flies) Disturbed - Down With the Sickness Godsmack - Bad Religion Godsmack - Greed Godsmack - Keep Away Godsmack - Whatever Guns N' Roses - Paradise City KoRn - Make Me Bad KoRn - Freak On A Leash KoRn - Children of the KoRn Lil' Jon & The East Side Boyz - What You Gon' Do Lil' Jon & The East Side Boyz - Throw It Up Lil' Jon & The East Side Boyz - Rep Yo City Lil' Jon & The East Side Boyz - Push That N****, Push That H* Lil' Jon & The East Side Boyz - Knockin' Heads Off Basically, anything by Lil' Jon. Metallica, of course - the definition of workout music - some songs among many... Fuel Enter Sandman King Nothing I Dissapear Frantic Die, Die My Darling Lots of Rage which has previously been mentioned. There's plenty of System of a Down stuff such as... Bounce Sugar Johnny Prison Song... I could go on, but that's probably enough suggestions for now.
