When factoring in price I am a sucker for Jim Beam Black. I usually drink my whiskey w lots of ice and thats it.
Crown is definitely me favorite, but it's pricey. I go for the expensive stuff when I can, I am a beer man so it's not that often. J&B is also pretty good. If I'm going cheap and good, I think Seagrams is the closest to both.
If you ever decide to spend a few bucks, try Glenlivet... so it's a little pricey, but it's the best value if you want good scotch. If you want to spend a few bucks more, you absolutely cannot go wrong with Glenfiddich. I personally think Glenfiddich is the best scotch money can buy. Basically, the lesson is... you cannot go wrong with a scotch that starts with "Glen".
Mmm...an 18 year Macallan is very very tasty. Now I can sip on that for a looooong time...oh wait, we are talking about whiskey right?
For Bourbons I like Makers Mark and Wild Turkey. But for the best whiskies in the world you have to explore the scotish single malts. This is the real stuff.
Agreed! It's made by Seagrams, the same distributor as Crown. I used to refill my crown bottles with it I also usually keep a bottle of Kentucky Derby around for people who want more of a JD or Bourbon taste. The stuff is total gutrot, but tastes pretty decent in coke.
ever had bulleit bourbon? good stuff, one of my favorites. as for single malts, i like balvenie 12yr doublewood.
If you want relatively cheap and good, try George Dickel. Ain't nuthin like gettin' pickled on Dickel......
I'm not a whiskey fan, not really, but Crown used to be good for tossing across a cove at Pale Face Park on Lake Travis. Always seemed to have a nice spin during trajectory and landed with a nice spash. A couple of swigs and it was on it's way to the next hippie... er, person in a tube or on a float. Naked, every soul. If you had seen the identical twins that hung out with us. Those chicks were awesome, sprawled out next to each other, laying on a towel spread over a flat rock on the water and soaking up the sun. Blonde, head and tail. Then there was all the other chicks, including my significant other, making for beautiful views in all directions. I hope the girls had as much fun checking out the guys. Do they, Isabel? We were all good friends. I'm getting nostalgic just thinking about those days, which pretty much ended by the time the '80's rolled around. I've usually preferred a good rum, myself. I enjoy Myers, but there are much better ones, of course. Sorry for the derail, folks.
