"Sta-Bil" or getting non ethanol gas will make your 2-stroke trimmer work right until the priming bulb or fuel lines succumb to old age and leak/break as well.

    Sea Foam is legit.

I don't f@ck with high maintenance gas and short battery life. All electric for my 8k sq ft lot

GreenWorks 21142 10Amp 18 Inch Straight Shaft Electric String Trimmer / Edge

Don't care if y'all don't like corded, but this thing works great. I've got a 150 foot cord, put a Rino-Tuff trimmer head that allows upto 0.95 in trimmer line. The trimmer works with Ryobi/Stihl/Trimmerplus/ and other attachments. I've also got a Trimmerplus hedge trimmer attachment I use for me bushes.

At 10 amps it's as powerful as any gas powered weedwacker. Best purchase since my gas trimmer went out. F@ck premixing.

^Yeah I'm into it but can't imagine getting so frustrated with others' preferences.

To the guy who recently bumped asking about the Stihl rechargable trimmer, I've had it for several years and it's been great for me. You have to have a small yard though, or else sometimes (first trim of year) trim some first then recharge while you're mowing then finish, or else add another expensive battery to what's already a very expensive setup. It's also not powerful enough nor does it accept heavy enough string to do certain stuff, like tendrils bedding into blacktop, that even the cheapest gas trimmers would obliterate. My only complaint.

Now other brands make rechargables at least as powerful as Stihl's, for a fraction of the price, just not as nice. Look into "Go" something, really impressed with their blower. Idk if it's going to hold up as well.

If you are mechanically inclined/motivated to do basic maintenance and take certain precautions nothing beats the power, price, and infinite runtime of gas. I've found corded electric the worst of both worlds, but with really small areA and light duty I could see the appeal.

    *E-GO

Worst name ever, but some nice rebates that make them super cheap for how powerful they are.

Ironically, I started this thread 7 years ago, and I've long sense hired a lawn service. I don't even own a weed-eater or lawnmower anymore.

What rebates are you talking about? I've never seen one.

I will say that I love my eGO mower. It's so quiet and efficient. I also have a Ryobi edger and blower. Might pick up a cheap string trimmer, but I'll obviously go electric with that.

THe stuff they carry at Home Depot anyway, sometimes the rebates take them down to half price.

Already way ahead of you, but I appreciate you looking out. I stopped by Home Depot at opening to pick up a blower and ordered the string trimmer online for delivery.

I'm debating opening up these up and using them right away. eGO just released the multi-tool that combines the drive shaft and multiple attachments: string trimmer, edger, hedge trimmer, pole saw. I might invest in the new line if the price is right, but the individual pricing so far is a bit high. I guess I could always resell on Craigslist.
