    YES !

Use them as gifts, people love getting something new and finding out...I have shipped them all over the country.

And after they are gone the brine makes a great pickle martini!

I like DILL, garlic and some spicy heat. I tend to buy the big ass Clausen jars at costco (I may have three going in the back fridge at one time), and I add extra DILL (caps for you Buck), whole bulbs of garlic and either a habanero or a few chile de arbols. Clausens are too salty for me, so I add Costco mini cucumbers to the brine which brines the new cucumbers and sucks some of the salt out of the original Clausens (to a surprising degree). I eat a LOT of them. Clausens aren't jarred for shelf preservation, and they aren't fermented, so it's hard to call them pickles, but it's what I like. I like a decent DILL half sour at good Jewish deli's too. The one at Schwartz's in Montreal comes to mind.

Yep. Wanna **** up some good food really cheaply? Add dill. Salmon/fish? Dill. Potatoes? Dill. Bread? Dill. Sauces? Dill. Soup? Dill.

You know those unfortunates who have the genetic predisposition against cilantro? I'm like that with dill, but not because of genetics, just because it's horrible.

Pickle brine is good for soaking your hands in to prevent blisters if you don't have something better, like urine.

You must be right, since bugs, rabbits, cows and deer won't touch it. I did read that it's a good folk remedy for flatulence and hemorrhoids, though (look it up).

Yall did remind me, since I'm going to HEB in the morning, that I need to pick up some nice wild salmon and make gravlax. Kosher salt, brown sugar, fresh ground pepper, lemon zest, 1 drop of real liquid smoke. Lots of people use dill, I don't, so I'll leave that to yall dill-do's.

Dill seed has a different flavor/purpose than fresh dill. Ppl are putting fresh dill in your aforementioned foods, not the seed like for pickling.

    You mention cilantro…
It’s like the difference between cilantro and cilantro seed (ie coriander)

    right?

You are correct, except that dill seeds simply have a different nasty flavor.

Dill pickles. Spicy dill - maybe. Sweet dill, never.

If they aren't homemade then Claussen has the best. If they are homemade it is possible that they are better.

Right? Try a cube of crispy pancetta and a little feta also.

Pickles at K&Z's are worth getting a jar to bring home.
I also love the pickles in the burger at Relish. One of my favorite burgers and it's due to their pickles.
