so in the end you think will be a better player than KG was in his prime? At some point Yao will peak? What can he do better , with more seasoning, than he doesn't do well now?
Lmao. Rockets are leading, i guess the homer votes do matter alot... Ill say the spurs since they just won the championship with the big 3... Francis shouldn't be on the list, he just doesn't belong to the Ray Allen's or Manu's... Mavs getting 0 votes, i love it
It isn't that yao doesn't score well, but he has room to improve his scoring. I'd rather have KG at this moment for this upcoming season, but think Yao will be the better player in 2 years.
Well, I guess this thread proves that any poll/survey that has anything to do with the Rockets or a perennial Rockets 'foe' (i.e. Mavs, Jazz) is anything but scientific.
Actually even though I don't really agree with it, I could see how the poll could reflect what may happen in the upcoming season if Steve Franchise is even 80% of what he was before. If this trio was together 3-4yrs ago, it would be hands down the unanimous choice-- maybe that is what the 'homers' are fantasizing about. Even so, the only change is that Yao has gotten better, T-Mac has gotten slightly worse, and Francis has gotten moderately worse. Overall not much of a downgrade from 3-4yrs ago, so it is a possibility, albeit small one, that we have 3 franchise level players now! Comparing ages to Boston's big 3: Yao 27, TMac 28, Francis 30 vs Pierce 30, KG 31, Ray 32.. we have a legitimate case here-- ALL of Rox players are younger!....
Never in Francis's career has he been as good as Ray Allen or Shawn Marion. His best season was his season under JVG, which really wasn't all that good. He has never been a Franchise player. Battier should really be the #3 guy in the ROX trio.
Well if you look at Steve Francis' NBA.com profile for last year, in most of the games in which he played >30min, he put up classic Franchise numbers ~20pts, 4-6reb, 4-6asts with good shooting percentages. His overall averages are misleading with the 5-10-15min games he played due to injuries or sharing time with Marbury/Robinson. There's gas in the tank still I think!
Well, that's one way to look at it. Another way is to say that 70% of the posters didn't vote for the Rockets.
IMO the only teams that TRULY have a big trio are: Celtics Nets (not a choice in the poll) Suns Spurs Rockets do not have a big 3 because Francis is not a star anymore...
steve francis was never as good as shawn marion is now or he was never better ever? marion over the last few years is better than steve ever was but marion took longer to develop. steve was definitely better in their first two seasons, it starts to even in year 3. agree about battier, at least right now.
You guys voting for the Rockets are showing major homerism. This exact topic is active on a general NBA forum right now, and the Rockets aren't even an option in the poll. It's no question...Celtics.
Basketball is a game of five players. Celtics may have the best trio(debatable) but rockets role players(Battier, Scola, James, Hayes, Butler, Head, Brooks etc) are >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> better than Celtics' roles players! So, Rockets win!
Hard to say its no question if there are several polls running. I didn't vote for the Rockets, but I didn't vote for the Cs either.
LOL at you homers choosing the Rox Pierce/Garnett/Allen is the clear cut choice. The Celtics may have no other decent players, but that trio is the most talented, followed closely by Nash/Marion/Amare Yao and Tmac are amazing, but Francis is not a great 3rd
