I do believe that we are on the beginning edge of the greatest period in Houston professional sports history. Now until 2010 will far surpass the early 80s and 1994-1995.
jeez That's all fine and dandy. I simply disagreed with you assertion that the Astros were struggling in 1994 and 1995. I then disagreed with your assertion that because they did not win a championship or a title then they didn't 'win'.
Late 70's-early 80's was by far the best time in the history of Houston Sports. Nolan Ryan, J.R.Richard, Jose Cruz, Moses Malone, Calvin Murphy, Rudy T, Earl Campbell, Ken Stabler, Robert Brazile. Astros and Oilers were within one win of reaching the World Series and Super Bowl. The Rockets did reach the NBA finals in 81 but lost to Larry Bird and the Celtics. Too bad for you young uns that missed out. It was a fantastic time to be a Houston Sports fan. The future is looking very bright indeed. Only time will tell.
