I like Thai Bistro in the Greenway area and one on Westheimer outside the beltway as well as Tony Thai on Bellaire.
Thai Try Morningside Thai on Kirby, between Main and the Bayou. Red curry is very good, and they do custom orders. Former Rice grad student haunt, when it was a little closer. Jasmine Thai for stripper waitresses. (Not actually stripping while delivering Thai food but still fun).
Thanks for the heads-up, HP. I had no idea the place existed (one of the downsides to living in Austin so long, I guess) and just got back from spending a few days in the area. I'll be hitting the place on my next trip, for sure. Love Thai food.
Well damn, that's sad and pretty cool at the same time (that his woman is keeping on the tradition). He was great fun, Thai version of the "soup nazi".
man if you like vieng thai on lonpoint you will love thai gourment. I have tried thai food in several different cities and no one can compare to them.. I did find this spot in san diego once that was really good.. but thai gourmet is the best
It must have not been thai hot then or you can just really eat extremely hot food. Nothing burns me but thai hot from TG
Thai Spice on 19th in the heights has really good red curry and pad thai.. Ano Thai off champion forest is really good too. Thai Orchid on Veterans Memorial is pretty decent as well.
I love that they deliver at Thai Jasmine and still keep the authentic flavors. I noticed some Thai restaurants would Americanize food and the food becomes bland.
I am impressed by Thai food's spice level. I always thought I could handle the heat pretty well for a gringo, but the first time I went to TG my ass was sweating like a w**** in church.
For those who work downtown, Bangkok Chef is really good. Approx $11 for a lunch dish and includes cup of soup, salad, and egg roll Be prepared for waits worse than Thai Gourmet and Kanomwan (aka "Telephone Thai")
Meant it was excellent. Best yellow curry in town BTW, for those of you who are reading this thread and are considering going to Thai Gourmet for lunch, sadly the best time to get there and actually get a table is around 11:15. If later, prepare to wait...outside. Two years ago you could get a table close to noon but the word has been out for a while now...
Good choice for downtown. Wait is pretty bad and the whole joint ends up being smokey and your clothes will smell like Thai food the rest of the day.
