With your screenname, I would've thought you would have a more realistic point of view regarding Glide vs. Kobe. 2 of the top 5 SG/SFs in NBA history. Much more equal than stats would suggest given that neither could win ANY rings without ALL-STAR, future HOF centers getting the ring for them. Kobe and Clyde would each have exactly zero rings between them if not for the centers that guided their teams during championship runs.

Kobe is probably the most sickeningly overrated player in the history of the game. I hope I never hear another mention of him in the same breath as MJ as far as rings and greatness. Kobe is the anti-team, the supreme ego that deserves few of the accolades and all of the blame for the failures of his squads... And he just set the Lakers franchise back a decade by not admitting that he has diminished as a player and handing the reins over to a more capable player while LA still had him. Kobe killed the Lakers, his arrogance and his absurd contract.

I would have to go with the Nets right now. Garnett, Pierce, Terry are all champs. D-Will, Lopez and Joe Johnson are all huge scorers and all-star talents who are still young, well not so much JJ. Kirilenko is an all-around player with tremendous longevity.

The Heat are 4 stars and a defensive stopper

The Spurs are still only 3 players

The Lakers are Gasol and Kobe who has always ridden the coattails of the big man all star on his team, never won anything by himself.

the 76ers team of the mid 80s has been mentioned. Dr J, Moses, Barkley, Bobby Jones, Maurice Cheeks and Andrew Toney all in their primes would beast on both sides of the court. those mentioning the 97 Bulls all seem to forget about Ron Harper who was injured before his prime and would almost certainly have been a perennial all-star. along with Jordan, Pippen, Rodman and Parish, they could probably grab over 50 rebounds per game, get over 10 steals a game and block over 7 shots a game just from the starters. that team might be even better defensively than the above 76ers team.

the early 2000s Portland team with Sabonis, Kemp, Sheed, Steve Smith, Pippen, Rod Strickland, Detlef Schrempf, Dale Davis, Bonzi Wells and Damon Stoudamire all in their primes would have been the closest thing to an All-Star team. another team not mentioned is the early 70s Lakers with Wilt, Jerry West, Elgin Baylor, Gail Goodrich and Happy Hairston. last, but not least are the Knicks of the same period with Walt Frazier, Earl Monroe, Willis Reed, Jerry Lucas and Dave DeBusschere. five HOFers (and members of the 50 greatest players ever) in their prime

They actually did that from time to time (read it in Simmons' Book of Basketball). Bird would play as SG in that line-up and McHale would guard opposing 2guards.
