I had the most uninpsired steak last weekend at Outback. As an aside, methinks "poterhouse" must be Australian for "t-bone". They actually tried to hide the fact by serving the t-bone upside down, or should I say "down under". [Edit: I know that porterhouse and t-bones are essentially the same thing, with porterhouse having a bigger filet side. The fillet side of this one was smaller than expected and dare I say t-bone sized.
Some of the best steaks I've ever had were at dive bars on "steak" night....I reccomend KC's on monday nights for a fantastic fatty steak with grilled corn on the cob and delicious frijoles....
we usually love Outback steaks .....last time, $50 and 2 steaks, dry as a bone that took 10 mins to chew each bite
In Austin Texas at Woodrows bar on Wednesday nights, they have a guy who pulls a trailer up and grills steaks. OMG !!! They are great. However, over all, I like the Flemings Porterhouse. Also there was a steak house in Fredricksberg called Freidholms and it had the most amazing steak I have ever eaten, it was a peppercorn and mushroom covered steak......WOW !!! DD
I've always enjoyed the steaks at Saltgrass but it is probably on the lower end of steaks in Houston, I don't know though.
Ungodly good, high-priced, or both? The only time I had Kobe beef was in Little Rock and it was great and high-priced so I would say both.
I had a bacon-wrapped filet topped with lump crab meat at Perry's last weekend. Good stuff. My wife wants to go to Sullivans for her birthday. How is it food and price-wise?
I think me and one of my buddies walked by and said hi to you last Friday at Molina's. Either that or the 7 margaritas made me think I did.
Oh man I had that at a local steakhouse called Omar's. It was simply great, expensive but great. They called it a Farce, I believe which is a weird name for such a dish.
Sullivan's is a very good steakhouse, on par price-wise with Flemings and Vic and Anthony's. The only problem I have there is that it usually has an older crowd there. But the jazz room is a sight to behold.
How would you compare it to Flemings or Vic and Anthony's? And just for curiosity sake, what can I expect to spend? The jazz bar sounds fun. Doesn't ima_drummer2k play there sometimes?
Don't go, unless you like overpriced, mediocre steaks and like seeing old dudes do the white man's overbite on the dancefloor.
Typically $20-25 on a steak, and $6-9 on a side. Wine will be anywher from $8 up a glass. As I said, typical steak food prices. And I've enjoyed the steaks there, personally.
