What was that short lived show back in the 90's about a baseball team? Most of the scenes took place in the locker room....
I liked Coach the best How is Cheers the best Sports show? I realize that Sam was an ex-baseball player, but it's in a bar.
Coach Based on Baylor Grad, SMU and University Of Iowa coach Hayden Fry. Jerry Van Dyke was a riot on that show.
1) Tilt 2) Sports Night 3) Coach BTW, I'm just kidding about Tilt...It was not the best, wasn't about sports, and I hope it wasn't a sitcom because it wasn't funny. Now Lucky, that was a good show about poker.
COACH. This one a close second: Hey, they had so many SPORTS episodes and real athletes in there, it might be considered a sports sitcom Children of the Corn had sequels??? I hate it when you don't chew ALL the corn grains and see them reappear the same night
Personally, I would only consider this a successful sitcom if the characters that play the GM and the coaching staffed get run out of town.
Sports Night, easily. I can't believe people actually liked Coach... it had some of the most horrible actors and the worst sitcom writing of all time.
Arliss is on ESPN classic now days so catch it. It is very funny. Its one of the best sports shows ever.
Coach is one of those late 80s/early 90s sitcoms that were great at the time, but blow, and blow hard, now. I also include The Cosby Show, Roseanne, Fresh Prince of Bel Air and The Wonder Years, among many others.
It just goes to show how slim the pickings for sports sitcoms are, when the leading contenders are: Cheers: Which isn't about sports. Sports Night: Which isn't a sitcom. (Dramedy) Coach: Which sucks. BTW, I never saw Arliss, but I'm surprised how many people enjoyed it. That seemed like the most bashed show in the history of HBO.
