My Uncle owns this place. He started it (original location was on Shepherd @ W Alabama next to Davenport) wayyyy back when he first moved here from Queens. He is opening an Indian Seafood restaurant in Sugar Land soon. Might even be open already. I'll have to find out ant let you guys know. Aye breds! Trini to di BONE! Funny thing is, my uncle who owns Udipi, married into our West Indian family. So we gots da South and West side covered!
La Sani is really popular among the Pakistani community in Houston, but I can't say I'm a fan of their food (too inconsistent).
neither of the above two are south indian. both are good though. for realz...try everything in shiv sagar. bismillah for indo/pak food. sabri and sheik chili are good if you like soooper oiled up nehari. bombay braisseri is caterered towards white folx now. too creamy and bland.
i live in Los Angeles please refer to it that way there is soo much here besides that team that has ron artest. finals was just saying cuz i said i'd take them to a south indian place next time i visit houston then i made this thread to get ideas on where to go to get south indian since good south indian restaurants are much harder to come by than north indian i mean there is a "little india" place here in LA that has all the bomb eateries
Ugh! Why would you want South Indian food? Go for Pakistani food instead, its waaay better! My top 3 Pakistani Restuarants: 1. Savoy on West Bellfort and 59 2. Shanhai Restuarant on Hilcroft and 59 3. La Sani on Bissonnet and 59
this is an absolute LIE GO AWAY WITH YOUR LIES South Indian food for LIFE!! and a rarity amongst even south indian places i was lucky enough to have it in the town it was made famous in (davangere) soo buttery good: davangere benne dosa
I love how me Paki brothers claim that tandoori chicken, nihari, haleem, seekh kabab, etc. are all pakistani food and not really indian food. don't know why, but that always cracks me up.
Their naan is good. Actually the food is not bad either. I just hate eating Indian buffets. Freakin butter chicken always fills me up real fast. The best naan used to be from this one joint Taj Mahal on 45 by Hobby. It shut down a few years ago though. Not to brag, but I simply make the best Indian grilled food at home. Can't beat it. Indians or Pakistani restaurant owners do not really understand the concept of cooking beef. Always always make everything super well done. I went to Savoy a few months back and they have a meat market too. I saw a bunch of ribeyes and the butcher tried his hardest to convince me that they received the beef fresh that day and its the best stuff I can buy. I didn't bother explaining that beef is one thing that's not actually at its best when "fresh".
