mccormicks & schmick's usually serve 8-10 different oysrer varities when in season. i really like trulucks.
Common guys Red Lobster? That place was awesome when I was kid but then I grew up and tasted seafood from other restaurants and it's almost a no brainer.
I used to go to Sudi's almost 20 years ago but haven't been since moving out to Mo City. It didn't compare to Pappas IMO. What I liked most about Sudi's was the "all you can eat" aspect, which I'm sure no longer exists.
http://blogs.chron.com/cookstour/archives/2008/11/reef_named_1_be.html not your traditional style of seafood like pappas or landrys
I can't believe that people are seriously recommending Red Lobster in a thread titled "Best Seafood Restaurants." What's next....Long John Silvers? Captain D's? I just tried Reef a couple weeks ago. Overall the meal was a great success. The only thing I didn't particularly like was the baked oysters appetizer. My girl got the Redfish on the Halfshell, and it was amazing. My scallops were really good, but not as good as her meal. I'm friends with the girl there that does all the wine recommendations, and she's very good at picking out just the right wine/food combos. So...my recommendations: Reef Truluck's McCormick & Schmick's Dennis'
Pappas is good .. Sudies is handsdown best catfish in town imo.. Monument Inn next San Jacinto Monument is gonna be the best all around place with a great view .. Outriggers in Seabrook best atomsphere handsdown..
Forgot about Monument Inn. I grew up in that area and we still go there every mother's day. Really great seafood.
A friend of mine opened a restaurant called Cajun Craven (12031 Beamer), it's really good has some Vietnamese items on the menu also.
Best Fried Shrimp and Fried Catfish in town is at Barbecue Inn off Crosstimbers. http://houston.citysearch.com/profile/9856635/houston_tx/barbecue_inn.html I've been eating there my whole life as have numerous other natives. Family owned since the early 40's.
For sushi, check out Osaka. It's on westheimer, between Montrose and Taft. Incredibly fresh sushi. It's my new spot. Me and Mak are both craving italian, so we're going to Nino's tonight. Love that place.
