TBH, after 2 years, you should upgrade. These days, technology is moving fast... an upgrade after two years with your router isn't so bad. You don't need an expensive router either. A budget router for the home works perfectly fine.
Pro models are very expensive. There are made to handle many users and have management features which home users don't need. You're better off buying a $100 router every few years.
Wow, people are b****ing about Linksys? Maybe try using the DD-RT firmware before you people start b****ing. Still have my WRT54GS for almost 6 yrs and still rocking solid.
That's DD-WRT firmware...Not sure why people still use the stupid default firmware or the firmware coming from the maker...

@Rockbox, that is terrible advice. It makes no sense financially to purchase new networking hardware every few years like consumers do with say a notebook (though with cloud computing, this is becoming less common). Once you get DD-WRT/Tomato, you get a rock-solid stable connection for good. Real-world router to computer speeds don't improve like Intel chips do within a few years. A Linksys WRT54GL from 2005 flashed with 3rd party FW will give you excellent speeds even today. @DonnyMost It's really not that complicated. Most here know how to access their router's web interface page. All one has to do is upgrade the firmware. Even though the majority of sub-$300 consumer routers suck, 3rd party FW allows you to have a powerful, highly configurable router for free.

We're referring to the new N routers... now the B/G routers. I still have my Linksys WRT54G which works fine. 1) If you have a fast internet connection, those WRT's aren't going to cut it since they aren't gigabit routers. 2) Wireless-N routers are the way to go nowadays. Linksys/Cisco's new routers suck and it has nothing to do with the firmware.
Are you guys living in Europe or Japan that your ISP is offering more than 56Mbps?? I can understand you would go with the Wireless N if you're transferring heavy files.
Because Apple crippled it AFTER I bought it and I needed a usable phone until I could get something different, numb-nuts. I get it from the manufacturer, and if it doesn't work, then I don't buy their product. How often are 3rd party drivers better, or even necessary, than stuff from the OEM? I shouldn't have to go hunting for firmware to make a product work right, and the vast majority of people shopping for a freaking wireless router don't want to do that either. Are you some kind of advanced cybernetic robot troll who is stuck on "PC vs Apple" mode? My Apple notebook works just fine, and I don't have to go searching for 3rd party firmware to get it to work like it should. My Apple phone didn't, so I got rid of it and got a Samsung Vibrant. Simple as that. Being a condescending jackhole to people for not having the patience/knowledge or ability to go out and find 3rd party support for a wireless router is pretty damned stupid.
We're not talking about "upgrading" the firmware, we're talking about completely replacing it with something from a 3rd party. Big difference. Anybody ought to know how to (and should) update the firmware delivered to them from the original manufacturer for virtually any electronic device they own.
I have this one and love it. No problems streaming Netflix in the bedroom, while being on the internet in the living room and playing Halo online all at the same time. Way better than my old router.

People talk bad about every brand. I've never had an issue with my D-Link. Same thing with a netgear I have in our main house.
