Matt Maloney played 15 games as a Rocket in the 98-99 season... he shot below his weight. Is that like the Mendoza line of basketball?
Robert Horry had a good shooting stroke when He started with the Rockets. He always had that timely 3 point shot.
You know... I get the feeling the Rockets haven't had many great "pure shooters". I've sat here thinking about it and can't think of any after Calvin and Rudy outside of maybe Kenny Smith. Could Chase Budinger be the next one?
Murphy easy hands down and end of story!!! As a kid I use to watch him shoot hook shots from tunnel entrance from half court in the summit when he was retired...He almost never missed(like 47 out of 50). He had awesome hand eye and mental perception judgement. That is why he was also the national champion in paton twirling. I only remember seeing him miss from the corners..maybe he needed the backboard to mentally guage. Also remember Wilt talking at the 50 yr reunion that murphy was one of the best hes ever seen...should be top twenty all time. Only wasnt cause no 3 pointers besides his last yr which doesn't count. Even though I disagree it means something to get that type of praise from the old timers.
Call me crazy... but I'd go with Yao Ming The guy has the best shot ever for a Center, especially at his height. When your 7'6" center is shooting technical fouls for your team, you know he's a pretty good shooter. Other than him... I'd go with Calvin Murphy, Mario Elie, and Kenny Smith. I think Aaron Brooks has a chance to be mentioned here one day if he continues to improve as well.
Yes I would say Glenn Rice before he became a Rocket. Throw in Eddie Johnson, Walt Williams, Murphy, World B. Free.
