Beastie Boys - topping the charts when I was a little kid and still making hits today. Good videos too.

i listen to very little rap. I do like Nas and Ludacrist, but Luda more because he's funny, and Nas because he's not always rapping about Cars and Cribs or wahtever its cool to rap about this days. Also, no Beastie boys or Public Enemy?

You can't talk about white, female rappers until you include Jessy Moss :) Her album was pretty good -- first 3 songs were quite good, then there were a few ups and downs, but on the whole it was a nice first effort. It's too bad that it wasn't ever released -- something happened between her and the record label, and it got shelved before being released.

I have a promo copy of it if anyone wants the MP3s. One of her songs was even on SmallVille.

In all seriousness, Rakim is the greatest rapper ever. He basically invented internal rhyme scheme, before him rappers just ryhmed the last word at the end of their sentences.

When it comes to original flow and smoothness, Biggie was the best.
