Oh my goodness, OTHER! Since the Fugees broke up a while back, popular rap music sucks these days. The only good rap groups are ones that hardly anyone has ever heard of, such as Blackalicious, Cannibal Ox, and Jurassic 5. Some other good current rappers are the Roots and Wu-Tang Clan (and all their side projects), and to a lesser extent Jay-Z and Eminem. If you really want to talk about the best rappers ever you have to look to the past, and they are Kool Keith, Public Enemy, A Tribe Called Quest, and De la Soul. Q-Tip of ATCQ has the best flow ever, but Kool Keith has the most wicked lyrics and coolest voice. De la Soul is the greatest rap group ever, followed by Public Enemy!
True dat Houston's Own Ghetto Boys get honorable mention on the group Chuck D is about on par with Pac as far as lyrics and flow but lack some of Pac's diversity Rocket River
Not one mention of Ice Cube? C'mon, the beginning of "**** the police" are the hardest 30 seconds in rap history! I always thought B-Real of Cypress Hill had a cool voice. Guru was pretty damn smooth in his day. But, by the time he's done, Eminem will probably hold the title.
I'm not sure if you're counting groups or not, but I can't pick just one. I think the following are the best for no one reason, but for many. Some for the message they try to get across, others for their lyrical skills, and still others that make you say "damn". : Public Enemy/Chuck D NWA Sir Mixalot The D.O.C. Snoop Doggy Dog X-Clan Fugees Tribe Called Qwest/Q-Tip KRS O.N.E. Bone Thugs 'N Harmony Run DMC Eminem De La Soul LL Cool J Most Overrated : Notorious B.I.G. - big slobbering, illiterate, buffoon that probably rapped with a Big Mac in his mouth because I sure as hell couldn't understand him. If he represented the East Coast and Tupac represented the West Coast, the East Coast has some problems. They should've just renamed his ass "Notoriously Lacking Skills"
LOL Too true Only person worse was the guy that was with DJ Polo G-rap . . .a lotta East coast rappers seem to have Marble mouth syndrone. Rocket River
Here's the most underrated guy in hip hop music: Nate Dogg. How many of these guys wouldn't even have gotten their start without him singing the hook to their songs?
do your remember this guy called DOMINOE! Nate Stole his style IMO Not to mention Nate got his start unless I'm mistake through Warren G [Dr Dre's step bro or something] Snoop had already did Deep cover . .. Nate Dogg.. . .is just ok . . not unlike ole boy on Gangsta's PAradise with Coolio . .. generic background singer #244 Rocket River
dude, domino... i still listen to his CD! i have the worst memory on the planet, but for some reason i actually remember that background singer's name in the "Gangsta's Paradise" video... it was "LV"
I would say Snoop Dogg. I am not into alot of Rap but "Gin N Juice" is one of my favorites. I also like the Beastie Boys, although I am not sure they are classified as RAP.
2PAC THUG FOR LIFE!!!!!!! He was such a prolific writer and flowed better than all of them for sure, no doubt, hands down... runners-up are: D.O.C. Chuck D Too Short
What is this a trick question? 1. 2Pac and no one else is even close 2. Biggie - Rap died for me when Biggie and 2Pac were gone 3. Ice Cube - Bad ass in his own way 4. Dre - basically started the whole gangsta stuff 5. Snoop - was a bad ass mofo, but sucks now. Honorable mention: Snow (Informer) - aliki bum bum bam!
All of the above plus the first legit white rappers that Eminem seems to take some influence from.... 3rd Bass
