Lowry is being overlooked in this thread. Or maybe he is so good that no one is even debating his spot at the top of the list.
I can't believe people are saying anyone but Chris Paul. He dominates like no small player has ever dominated before (including Iverson).
That would be my pick, if we're talking about "dominates like no small player has ever dominated before (including Iverson)." The fellow obviously didn't see him play. One would be tempted to compare him to Brooks... almost the same height (no way Brooks is 6 feet), a point who was more a scorer, except the comparison ends there, and I say that not to take anything away from Aaron. Murph was a great defender, maybe the best ever for his size, and a league leader in steals. He was a much, much better shooter, at .482% for his career, and arguably the best free throw shooter ever to play the game. He had a couple of seasons where he was top 3 in assists per game. Think a tougher, better defending Lowry who's a great shooter, despite being shorter and lighter. Calvin was unreal. Iverson couldn't wear his jock, in my opinion.
1st tier: 1. Chris Paul - all around best on both ends of the floor, does most with least 2. Steve Nash - one of the best shooters of this era, great passing despite inflated system 3. Deron William - good size passing and scoring, lacking rebounding effort and sometimes defense. 2nd tier: 4. Chauncey Billups - leads to wins. 5. Jason Kidd - leads to wins. 6. Rajon Rondo - perhaps overrated right now, but at this spot because of great defense 3rd tier: 7. Derrick Rose - the future 8. Baron Davis - good on offense and good defender when not lazy 9. Tony Parker - somewhat injured, but the championships...vital to the team..intangibles? Everyone else decent: Brooks, Mo William, Harris, Tyreke(?), etc... The Other: Rafer Alston.
Rafer Alston is actually a good point guard. He definitely showed that in the playoffs and finals with us and with the Magic.
I didn't know we were ranking players based on fantasy rankings. Going by your argument Kobe is 9th best in fantasy basketball. I was ranking players in terms of age, production, overall game, value and impact. No disrespect to Kidd but he's yesterdays news. Not only has he lost a step but his team is STACKED. It's kind of hard not to look good when you're surrounded by capable scorers at every position including the bench. I wouldn't trade for Kidd or sub him for any player on my list.
It's gotta be DWILL. Size, speed, handles, passing, shooting he has it all...If only he weren't a Jazz, I could like him more.
is this a west-amare comparison or devin brown-jrich comparison? anyways i just feel the tempo of nash's team makes some of his stats (assists) slightly inflated. he is hall of fame for sure. cp is yet to get there.
I am not even going to begin to discuss how much more talented the Suns are, but Nash is out of the running for best pg for me because he is the single worst defender in the NBA.
Well current Amare isn't that much better than David West. More athletic sure. I would say Okafor/CHandler are much better than any Phoenix center. J-Rich is slightly better than Posey + Stojakavic and all though. 3.5 possesions is a decent difference though. I was looking up stats. CP3's. How the hell did he not win MVP? http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/p/paulch01.html
He's been playing through through a wrist injury all season long. If he'd given up he'd be on the injury list instead of playing.
Dude... You have got to be kidding... I am perplexed... He is statistically the 4th best player in the league, and his team is winning, like it always has... I like how you bring out the age card. "best point guard" is the thread title... "Production, Overall game, Value and Impact" put Jason Kidd at the top of ANY educated basketball fan's list. Again, It is unbelievable that someone could leave Jason Kidd out of the top 10 in NBA PG's. It is beyond moronic, it is staggering... Someone please shoot me in the face... Am it taking crazy pills? Does anyone else with rep agree with this list? If so, I will gladly log off Clutchfans for the rest of time...
