I know you are kidding.... He said: "I'd like to be prety close to the action (bars/clubs/music whatever)" The only action in the Galleria is 30-40 something snobs in the newest BMW, pricey food, and expensive shopping. Did I mention the ridiculous bumper-to-bumper traffic?
berbs suck, but if you go with one go with Clear Lake. Live downtown, midtown or get a place just east of downtown (under valued) around Polk and Dowling east of the GRB and Toyota Center.
I disagree. If I'm moving to the Burbs, it's The Woodlands. I dig the new Market Square. I think the Mrs. and I will be looking up that way when we finally buy a house next year.
I used to be ALL ABOUT the whole "inner loop is more hip than the burbs" movement, but once you start thinking about marriage and kids, you tend to outgrow this notion. Now we just want to be as far away from the city as possible while still being 30 minutes away. We've been looking for new neighborhoods around the Kingwood/Atascocita area. Screw HISD.
I agree with you 100%. I grew up in that area most of my life (Magnolia), and now I live out of town. If I ever move back down to Houston, I'm 95% sure the Woodlands is my place. Not only are their schools absolutely top-notch, but they have nearly everything the city does (minus the cultural diversity and the sports teams), but it's more rural. And it's only a 30 mile trip down I-45 to get into Houston to boot.
I think it depends on how much you want to spend: Midtown is a good place if you need a moderately priced place. A lot of bars and resteraunts around, very close to downtown. Galleria might be the nicest place to live, but it will cost you a pretty penny.
You probably know absolutely nothing about The Woodlands. Most people that talk **** about it rarely do.
I'm hoping in a year. The Woodlands itself will probably be out of our price range, plus I'd want to be a little closer to work, so maybe Spring.
