FFToday is a very busy site that I've used for years. Lots of forum traffic and nice analysis on the home page. The guys I trust most are found at KFFL.com. These guys always have the latest breaking news, excellent mock drafts and decent forums.
My opinion, I'd skip the love fest with Peyton that early if you're looking to draft 3 RB's per team. I'd choose to go to battle with Alexander at the 2 spot since he's a touchdown machine, and hope to snag a Trent Green or Bulger in the early-middle rounds. Hell, even Carson Palmer is poised for a helluva breakout year.
That's a good point. I'm just speaking from last year when our league gave 6 points for passing TDs and Manning (in a record setting year, obviously) was the difference maker in the playoffs. I'm also not as high on the RBs outside of LT as much as I have been in the past.
Gotcha. I'm just a little RB scared after my dreadful season last year in a high $$$ league. I had the 13th pick and went RB 1st, and on the serp I took Moss as my second pick. Due to the large amount of RB by committee teams last year and every other team stealing every starter on the boards in the first two rounds I was stuck with Dillon and Barlow as my starters. Dillon was great, Barlow was horrible! [/Walton voice] From now on I'm a RB1-RB2 draft dude. After scrambling most of the season to pick up backups who faired decent (Blaylock, Goings) and losing McNair, Moss and Charles Rogers *I promised my coach I'm loading up on RBs, especially seeing the RBBC drop significantly this year as opposed to last. Some real good looking rookie sleepers, also. Dayum, I love fantasy football! *Of course, my drafts never work out exactly as I had hoped. Always someone who drafts a QB, D or TE way too early which starts the rush. I hate that.
We've got 11 teams in our league this year (yeah i know, r****ded), and I've got the #9 pick. At this point I'm planning to go with RB's in the first 2 rounds, and then WR and maybe QB or another WR after that. The QB's should fare nicely in my league as the rules are 5pts for every passing TD, plus 1pt if it is within 1-26 yards, 2pts 26-40, 3pts 41-60, and 4pts for 60+ yards. Culpepper will probably be available with that 9th pick, but I just can't bring myself to take him that early with the uncertainty of how losing Moss will affect him. I'm steering clear of Donovan this year as well. So my plan is to pickup a QB like Favre, Green, Bulger, or Collins at some point around the 4th or 5th round.
Just a heads up for you guys in standard performance scoring Culpepper outscored Manning last season (rushing yards).
Shaun Alexander would be my #2 pick, Priest scores in droves but who knows how long he's going to last. There is never a wrong time to take an RB who has two 5 touchdown games to his credit and 70 touchdowns in the past 4 years.
6 points for a TD across the board [QB,WR,RB,etc] Pt per reception Pt for 10 yds rushing or receiving Pt per 25 yds passing Generally there is a bonus at 100 yds rushing/receiving, 300 yds passing, 10 or more receptions, Defensive shut out, 50 yd field goals
